The Powertrain Module in Vestas Power Solutions is responsible for developing the complete Vestas powertrain for both onshore and offshore wind turbines. The module consists of 3 submodules, Lubrication & MBA (Main Bearing Arrangement), Gearbox, and Generator. The Lubrication & MBA submodule is responsible and accountable for the design solutions of (i) the powertrain lubrication system, (ii) the main bearings and (iii) the structural components. 
The Lubrication & MBA submodule team is located in three hubs, Aarhus in Denmark, Porto in Portugal and Chennai, India. 

The open position is for the Lubrication & MBA submodule in Porto or Aarhus and more specifically for the design of the lubrication system for Main Bearing Arrangement and Gear Box. As development engineer, you will be directly reporting to the Submodule Owner with the main responsibility of designing the lubrication system.

 

Responsibilities

  • Be part of the project team, guide and plan the technical activities to develop the lubrication system.
  • Work closely with cross functional teams, in coordination with international suppliers to provide optimum solutions.
  • Verify the lubrication system by the mean of test and calculation methods.
  • Implement lubrication system into production.
  • Drive VA/VE activities to optimize product cost to required performances.
  • Participate in estimating component lifetime .
  • Monitor performance of the Lubrication systems on all installed turbines to reduce the cost of poor quality.

 

 Qualifications

  • Be part of the development team providing and implementing new solutions for new development projects
  • Work closely with cross functional teams, in coordination with international suppliers to provide optimum solutions
  • Verify the lubrication system by the mean of test and calculation methods
  • Implement lubrication system into production
  • Guide VA/VE activities to optimize product cost to required performances
  • Participate in estimating component lifetime 
  • Monitor performance of the Lubrication systems on all installed turbines to reduce the cost of poor quality

 

Competencies
You have eagerness in developing new products with fundamental knowledge of:

load analysis and application
calculation and sizing of hydraulic components
CFD simulation 
extreme and fatigue analysis
design for manufacturing
system engineering
quality development tools (requirements, DFMEA, verification, validation . . .)
