Within Vestas R&D, the department Converter & Electrical Module is responsible for technology and product development of the wind turbine's frequency converters, their control, and high-voltage transformers, switchgear and cables. The department is composed of several Sub Modules, of which one specifically covers Converter Control Software.

The Converter & Electrical Module works with suppliers and internal stakeholders - turbine integration, procurement, assembly, service - to provide high-quality solutions from our teams' locations in Denmark, Portugal, and India. The Converter Control Software Sub Module develops and maintains all embedded converter software, controller HW, and realtime simulation platforms for all Vestas converters. We provide high-quality converter solutions with quality meeting system and grid requirements.

As Sub Module Owner of Converter Control Software, you will have direct reports in Denmark and Portugal, and you will report to the Module Owner of Converter & Electrical Module and be part of the Module management team.

 

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the Sub Module and the performance of the team, i.e. delivering high quality, safe, sustainable and durable design solutions on time at the agreed cost taking the entire value chain and life cycle into account. You will as direct line manager for the team members develop employees through coaching and target setting. Your main tasks will be as following:

  • Ensure solid collaboration inside and outside of Vestas R&D, with strategic contact to relevant stakeholders to always focus on finding the best solutions
  • Ensuring timely execution of Sub Module deliverables such as high-quality solutions and documentation
  • Managing resource planning and delegation of work and budget controlling
  • Effective people performance and development dialogue (incl. one-to-one, target setting, development plans)
  • Strategic talent management and development
  • Coaching employees in execution of daily tasks
  • Manage value chain stakeholders
  • Identifying optimizations in processes and solutions
  • Recruiting new employees and scaling with consultants

 

Qualifications

  • Effective management in a large cross-cultural organization
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in software engineering or Electrical and Computer engineering
  • Experience from working as an engineer in the embedded SW domain
  • Experienced in management of embedded software Engineering teams
  • Experience in managing in a matrix organization and across cultures
