The Converter & Electrical (C&E) Module is part of Vestas R&D organization Power Solutions. The Converter Circuit Design team with C&E Module is an essential contributor in making the current and future wind turbines more efficient and cost-effective by developing the electrical power conversion components. This is done by being responsible for the development and maintenance of the components according to the full value chain requirements. All Vestas products are based on internally developed converters since electrical power conversion is at the core of how a wind turbine performs, operates and interacts with the electrical grid.
You will be a part of the power electronic team within the Converter Circuit Design. The department consists of 20 highly skilled designers and specialists located in Denmark, Portugal, and India. 


The daily work will be within a broad network of stakeholders and together with the electrical specialists you will set the standard for tomorrows design. With an engineering background in power conversion your main role will be to support the EMC design in Vestas Converters and Electrical systems.
 In general, the function within EMC design is to secure design solutions for full range of products which supports modular product development (MPD).
EMC design solutions must secure compliance with the primary interface requirements (grid code compliance and generator interface compliance) while also securing optimization of secondary aspects/requirements such as cost, weight, volume, modularity, cooling concept and customization-options. Particularly, the responsibilities will be:

  • Secure EMC design guidelines and tools for sub-module assemblies such as Stack, gate-driver etc.
  • Design assessment reporting on expected EMI footprint under given design choices
  • Develop and maintain List of Deliverables list associated with EMI and EMC certification
  • Review of EMC relevant List of Deliverables from Converter supplier
  • Secure design guidance on filter return path's which secures acceptable levels on EMI
  • Secure design guidelines for EMI filters and CM filters for frequencies higher than 9Khz
  • Secure design focus and support RCA aspects related to turbine malfunctions/failures relevant to EMC and EMI
  • Specify test activities to validate (and add knowledge) the EMI Design
  • Update and maintain documentation (or documentation guidance) related to EMC requirements, functions, and failures (DFMEA) related to EMC filter components
  • Support technology roadmap for EMC design aspects


  • A Master's in a relevant area, i.e., power electronics, electrical engineering
  • Between 3 and 5 years of experience in EMC design of power electronic systems
  • In-depth knowledge of simulation analysis for EMC/EMI solutions
  • In-dept knowledge of converter working principles, incl. PWM schemes, deadtime, control interface etc.
  • Knowledge of magnetic design principles and knowledge in test and verification
  • Knowledge to recent grid codes related to harmonic Emission/immunity
