The Transformer submodule is part of Vestas R&D. The department is an essential contributor to making current and future wind turbines more efficient and cost-effective by developing electrical power transformers. This is done by being E2E responsible for the development and maintenance of the components according to the full value chain requirements.

The daily work will be within a broad network of stakeholders and together with the electrical specialists you will be creating plans and project timelines.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support to other CAD designers within the department.
  • Create conceptual 3D models for high-voltage (HV) transformers, switchgears, and cables.
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure compliance with Vestas requirements.
  • Engage with various stakeholders to align interfaces and ensure seamless integration.
  • Ensure all designs meet the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of designs, revisions, and compliance measures.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in CAD design. Experience with hardware such as transformers, switchgears, and cables presents an asset.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Creo Parametric, AutoCAD) and experience with 3D modeling. Experience with PDMlink (Windchill) and experience with BOM management.
  • As a benefit - understanding of HV transformers, switchgears, and cables.
  • Relevant certifications in CAD design or engineering are an added value.

  • High leadership skills to support and mentor other CAD designers.
  • In-depth knowledge of CAD software and 3D modeling techniques.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills to interact with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in design and documentation.
  • Ability to identify and resolve design issues effectively.
  • Great interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
