Loads & Control (LaC) is responsible for designing and optimizing Vestas' products for optimal performance, loads and control strategies together with cross-product design work. The department consists of highly skilled, international, and well experienced engineers located across Portugal, Denmark, and India. In LaC Modelling & Infrastructure you will be taking full responsibility for developing SW solutions to enable simulation models for loads and power predictions which are efficient, scalable and with an adequate physical representation of Vestas WTG and Plant products. We have a sophisticated modelling environment that is closely interfaced with loads and control processes and activities and plays a vital role in overall product development and other value chain activities, as Vestas heavily relies on these to take critical business and product design decisions.

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Engineer with a polyglot programming background to join our creative team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Python, MATLAB, and C#, with Delphi experience being a bonus. This role requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience, and familiarity with the Agile framework is essential. Experience in the wind domain, particularly in loads and control software development, and any cloud environment will be highly advantageous.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, and maintain software applications using Python, MATLAB, C#, and optionally Delphi.
  • Collaborate with global teams to design, implement, and optimize software solutions.
  • Work as an individual contributor on complex projects, taking full ownership of the software development lifecycle.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Integrate software solutions with cloud environments and ensure seamless deployment.
  • Utilize wind domain knowledge, especially in loads and control software development, to enhance application performance and functionality.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while following best practices and coding standards.
  • Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and issues in a timely manner.
  • Continuously explore new technologies and frameworks to improve development processes and product quality.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • More than 2 years of professional software development experience.
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and C#.
  • Experience with Delphi is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding and experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience working in the wind domain is an added advantage.
  • Experience in loads and control software development is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and the ability to work individually and as part of a global team.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

 

Competencies

  • Experience with version control systems such as Git.
  • Knowledge of software design patterns and principles.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
  • Experience in developing and deploying microservices.
  • Understanding of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization techniques.
