Tower Module in Vestas Power Solutions is maintaining and developing the complete Vestas tower program. The tasks range from structural engineering over highly specialized FEM calculations, requirements specifications, DFMEA, test planning, and execution to risk assessments and compilation of certification documentation. Tower Technology is a sub-department of Tower Module. The department is responsible for the technology strategy of the tower module and deliver the needed technological solutions for towers in alignment with future wind turbine requirements, module strategy, and module KPI's like year on year levelized cost of energy reduction (LCOE). The team is located at 3 different sites: Aarhus in Denmark, Porto in Portugal, and Chennai in India. The team consists of 20 highly skilled engineers with backgrounds in Mechanical/Structural/Civil engineering.


As an FEA Engineer in Tower Technology your primary responsibility will be:

  • Develop, optimize and validate new concepts using FEA and structural calculations
  • Component qualification including static strength, buckling, and fatigue calculations
  • Handle a vast variety of components related to tower structures, tower internals, tower transport, and handling tools
  • Ensure technical choices to secure progress in the projects and direct technical reviews
  • Prioritize the technical tasks in the projects based on the calculated impact to project targets
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks within the project scope
  • Handle and align project issues with stakeholders
  • Deliver the technical solution with quality, time, and cost targets of the project
  • Provide feedback and question design solutions to interfacing systems to optimize product design



  • You shall have solid proven and relevant experience in design of complex dynamically loaded steel structures
  • Bachelor/Master's/PhD in Structural/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering
  • Professional experience 4-8 years (Minimum relevant experience of 3 years)
  • Solid experience in structural assessments using FEA (ANSYS, e.g. APDL)


We see the ideal candidate possessing the following competencies and personality:

  • Experience with fatigue & buckling calculations, analysis of bolted and welded connections
  • Experience with CAD software, MATLAB, and python scripting
  • Experience in the design of steel/concrete structures
  • Experience with design of towers for wind turbines or other masts/chimney structures is an added value
  • Experience in working with certification of structures with certification agencies like DNV, TUV, etc.
  • Have good problem-solving skills and be able to handle sub-projects and be able to meet deadlines
  • Need to display keen commercial awareness and understand the business implications of the technical decisions made during the project
