Be part of the growing and exciting renewable energy industry by joining the Vestas North America Regional SCADA Solutions Team which is tasked with the deployment and support of Wind Power Plant SCADA and control systems.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Configure, test, and deploy Network solutions, including power plant network design and buildout, for large-scale wind farms:
  • Remotely build networking integration between proprietary wind turbines, SCADA systems with power plant controllers (PPCs), grid interfaces, and external control systems.
  • Application of complex, multi-nested configurations. Including: Cisco routers, switches, VLAN, building VPN tunnels, OSPF, BGP protocols and troubleshooting,
  • Implement communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA) for real-time data exchange.
  • Configure routing protocols, switching protocols, Policy Maps, Class Maps, Zone Pair and Access Control Lists.
  • Network topology diagrams & IP Addressing.
  • Identify and resolve all aspects of Vestas' SCADA Network, including any networking communication issues affecting wind farm performance, in support of new and existing contracts and customers.
  • Provide network knowledge in migration and updates to network infrastructures including routers, servers, and switches.
  • Review and build fiber network designs and fix issues within the turbine network according to the contract.
  • Support and mentor Network professionals within Vestas.

 

Additional Duties:

  • Provide technical support to customers, field service teams, and internal personnel on SCADA systems.
  • Liaison between SCADA Engineers, Customer, Cybersecurity, on-site personnel, Project Managers, Developers, and various internal & external stakeholders. Be able to explain complex information simply.
  • Create & maintain network standards & documentation
  • Regularly communicate and track project health, achievements, and lessons learned
  • Evaluate network designs to determine whether customer requirements are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Use network computer-aided design (CAD) software packages to optimize network designs.

 

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of comprehensive experience in any of the following areas:
  • Cisco network hardware devices, i.e. Firewalls, Routers, switches and load balancers.
  • Configuring routing protocols, i.e. OSPF, BGP and switching protocols (VLANs/STP/RSTP/MST)
  • Implementing and diagnosing LAN/WAN/Spanning Technologies for redundant communication loops
  • Experience in configuring Policy Maps, Class Maps, Zone Pair and Access Control Lists.
  • Upgrading Cisco IOS firmware/Software
  • Network topology diagrams & IP Addressing; DMVPN, TNT, B2B, VPN, WAN
  • Single & multi-mode fiber optics
  • Professional English Skills both verbal and written
  • Experience leading technical projects, project accountability, and/or teams
  • Ability to periodically travel internationally

 

Qualification we are looking for:

  • CISCO CCNP
  • Familiarity with Hirschmann routers & switches
  • Practical experience with SCADA technologies, implementation, and installation
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field

 

Additional considered & valuable experience:

  • Project Management, Technical Lead or Specialist
  • Technical contract writing or support
  • Knowledge and experience with design and implementation of SCADA and Electrical control systems for industrial automation systems
  • Other SCADA or state-logic software and hardware configuration, simulation or support
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols for data and information exchange like TCP/IP, DNP3, Modbus, and other relevant communication standards. (and/or)
  • Knowledge about Cybersecurity, Information Security and Risk Management
  • Working experience with CMMS (i.e., JIRA, SAP, or similar tools)
  • Motivation to accomplish tasks with low direct supervision
  • Accountability and a focus on efficiency and quality control
  • Ability to work with customers and coworkers to reac a common goal on both a technical and non-technical level
