You will be part of the Global Real Estate & Facility Management team, focusing on the Canadian and American regions. This role involves managing all Real Estate and Facility Management (RE&FM) activities across these regions, supporting Vestas's business needs as part of a global function.
Our department aims to enable the safe, scalable, optimized, and sustainable use of our buildings, facilities, and real estate for all of Vestas. We are a key partner for the business, assisting our stakeholders in reaching their goals. As Director, your contributions will elevate our area by facilitating stakeholder collaboration, applying your technical and commercial knowledge, and drawing from your practical experience in Real Estate and Facility Management.
Responsibilities
- Manage real estate assets, including leased office space, factory campuses, and alternative assets. Direct site selection for offices and factory operations.
- Oversee facility management operations in all AME facilities, primarily through the leadership of 3rd party suppliers. Manage access control and facility security.
- Support the region in implementing a cohesive workplace offering in alignment with global philosophies and standards.
- Oversee the design and construction of office fit-outs. Coordinate with the Vestas Global Building Development and Construction group for factory projects.
- Serve as Vestas representative in local jurisdictional matters.
- Enable business operations stakeholders' needs through competency, communication, and trust.
- Exhibit safety and accountability behaviours by setting a positive example and following internationally recognized policies and procedures.
- Serve on the management team for Global Real Estate and Facility Management, contributing to strategy development, key deliverable implementation, and global networking. Coach, develop, and mentor a small, geographically dispersed team, providing leadership and promoting a collaborative environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in technical or commercial fields, with practical experience in Real Estate, Workplace Strategy, and Facility Management.
- 5+ years of progressive leadership and management experience in a global organization within the real estate, construction, or energy industry, with a strong safety mindset.
- Financial management skills, including understanding department budgets and managing capital approvals in a large corporation.
- Customer-focused, capable of collaborating and partnering with stakeholders across various regions and organizational levels.
- Experience in an international organization with a matrix setup.
- Advanced leadership and interpersonal skills, with the capability of directing technical teams with clarity of intent and focused direction.
- Effective written and oral communication skills, with the ability to express oneself clearly in both technical and non-technical terms.
Competencies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and other software programs.
- Ability to work flexible hours and coordinate with various time zones.
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders at all levels and regions, including working effectively with different cultures.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
- Efficiency in working remotely with limited supervision.
- Customer-oriented mindset with the ability to lead, influence, and collaborate with stakeholders across all regions and levels in the organization.
- Experience in an international organization with a matrix setup.
