HSE Specialist, Offshore Service

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety Specialist to join our team. This position is part of Vestas' North America Region Health, Safety and Environment team responsible for developing offshore HSE service readiness for the Empire Wind Project, New York. If you are a safety professional who values developing safety programs that address the needs and make technicians' jobs easier and getting to travel and present across a wide variety of audiences, this could be an ideal next job. 

 

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities are the development and implementation of HSE systems within Vestas offshore operations, including:

  • Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR)
  • Risk Assessments
  • Safety Plans
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response Procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in Industrial Health & Safety, or related equivalent is beneficial.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional safety experience in the wind energy sector or other heavy industries within the maritime environment (e.g., Seafarer Oil & Gas)
  • In-depth knowledge of safety codes, and regulations (e.g., OSHA, BOEM, NFPA), as well as working knowledge of New York state safety requirements
  • Ability to mentor/coach as technical safety expert across business functions and at all levels of the organization
  • Microsoft office skills, ability to navigate PowerBI and other applications supporting Vesta's operations (e.g., Sphera, I-Auditor)

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Highly adaptable, able-bodied, and capable to live/work at sea.
  • Technical writing and training development skills.
  • Effective communication and team engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks and work as part of a team.
  • Experience in program management and coordination.
  • Ability to safety climb wind turbines.
  • Ability to travel domestic and international, position requires 40-50% travel.
