Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within VTO, you'll find our department, Technical Project Management, as part of RE&T NCE Offshore.
RE&T NCE Offshore serves as the vital link between our regional business unit, the value chain, and customer needs, ensuring seamless collaboration with Vestas’ central Research & Development team, which steers global product development.
As a Technical Project Manager within RE&T, you will take on a versatile and multifaceted role that demands strong technical skills, a commercial mindset, and offshore operational experience. You will work closely with our construction project execution team, customers, and R&D engineering functions to deliver optimal technical solutions for offshore projects, supporting Vestas’ strategic growth in the offshore wind sector.

Responsibilities
As a Technical Project Manager, you will be responsible for handling the technical aspects of large-scale offshore construction projects, ensuring alignment with project requirements and targets. Acting as the primary technical authority within the project team and towards the customer, you will provide guidance, direction, and solutions for all technical matters throughout the construction phase.
Your responsibilities will include

  • Take full technical ownership of offshore project execution across the entire project lifecycle
  • Develop a deep understanding of the offshore wind market, customer needs, and offshore operational requirements. Leverage technical knowledge to implement optimal solutions and continuous improvement in offshore project execution
  • Ensure technical scope, milestones, and deliverables are well-defined and met on time, within budget, and to the highest standards
  • Act as the key technical liaison between Offshore Construction Project Execution and Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO) for your assigned projects
  • Address and resolve technical problems that arise during construction, maintaining the integrity of project execution
  • Work closely with the Pre-installation Project Manager, Technical Site Specialist, Installation Manager, and Commissioning Manager to ensure seamless collaboration and alignment across the value chain
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key technical stakeholders within customer organizations, ensuring their requirements are incorporated into Vestas’ project execution
  • Following an intensive induction, you will be fully immersed in Vestas’ offshore activities, contributing to the well-executed offshore wind projects and supporting Vestas’ significant growth in the sector
     

Qualifications

  • A degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Marine Engineering, or a related field, complemented by commercial insight or interest. Alternatively, a commercial background with a strong understanding of technical aspects
  • Experience in technical negotiations, especially involving heavy machinery, power plant equipment, or similar industries
  • Experience in wind energy or an industrial plant environment is beneficial
  • Good project management skills
  • Fluency in business English (spoken and written)
  • Its beneficial, if you are fluent in any Scandinavian or European language

Additional information
The primary work location for this position is Hamburg, Germany. 
Up to 80 days of travel per year.
