Service Offshore is a function within Vestas Northern & Central Europe (NCE). The Offshore Service Department is responsible for executing all service and maintenance work for the offshore wind turbines in the Vestas portfolio. Additionally, the operational activities are divided into three clusters, with Cluster 1 covering operations in Germany, Poland, and Denmark.

In the coming years, Cluster 1 will experience significant growth due to the introduction of our V236 platform and will become a multi‑GW cluster. Cluster 1 currently employs approximately 280 people and further relies on numerous subcontractors who require effective management and leadership.

The Service Director (f/m/d) for Cluster 1 reports to the Vice President for NCE Service Offshore Operations, where several supporting functions are also located.

 

Responsibilities

 

As a Service Director, you will be based in Hamburg and will report directly to the Vice President for Service Operations. You will have full P&L responsibility for the service sites within your region. Your primary focus will be overseeing the delivery of all activities under the Service Contracts, as well as leading and developing the team and ensuring the effective overall management of the business.

 

In addition, your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Leading the Service Managers across the wind farms and ensuring they have the optimal conditions to effectively guide their teams
  • Continuously creating a work environment where everyone is 'safe and well'
  • Advancing our development goals, with a particular emphasis on attracting, retaining, and developing the right staff
  • Developing prosperous partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring that health, safety, and environmental policies are implemented, maintained, and updated in line with local regulations
  • Delivering a high-quality customer experience and promoting a cohesive strategy for customers and operations across the cluster
  • Creating high-quality delivery through mid‑ and long‑term strategies, while managing regional P&L performance, KPIs, turnover, and budgets for NCE Service Offshore activities
  • Making investment proposals to improve the Service Offshore Organization and safeguard effective deployment of resources, processes and procedures and actively support business activities to increase operational and financial efficiency
  • Staying informed about developments in the wind and sustainable energy market, particularly within Offshore Service

 

Qualifications

 

  • Relevant Master’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent qualifications gained through experience in relevant business areas
  • Solid experience in a similar role within an international service organization in the wind or offshore industry
  • Demonstrated experience with leadership and people management
  • The role manages further layers of management, making the ability to 'lead other leaders' a key qualification
  • Good business skills combined with a customer‑focused, solution‑oriented, and continuous‑improvement mindset
  • Financial insight and experience with full P&L responsibility, including a sound understanding of key financial figures and KPIs
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written; German is a plus
