The Regional Procurement Office (RPO) EMEA is responsible for procurement activities across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Balkans. Within RPO EMEA, the Logistics Procurement Hub manages the sourcing of inland transportation services for wind turbine components, including port handling, factory-to-port transport, and delivery to installation sites. Our diverse and collaborative team supports wind energy projects across the region.
Responsibilities
The Logistics Senior Purchaser (m/f/d) is responsible for leading the sourcing and procurement of transport services for wind turbine components across the EMEA region, ensuring competitive, compliant, and strategically aligned solutions that support both tendering activities and project execution.
The role includes developing sourcing strategies, leading complex RFQs, conducting market analysis, negotiating commercial agreements, and managing supplier performance. The Specialist will work closely with stakeholders across logistics, construction, sales, finance, and legal functions to deliver value, mitigate risks, support business objectives, and contribute to winning projects and successful project execution.
This position is ideal for an experienced procurement professional with a strong commercial mindset, proven negotiation skills, and the ability to independently manage procurement activities in a dynamic international environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing & RFQ Management: Develop and execute sourcing strategies, prepare and manage RFQs, and lead supplier selection processes to ensure competitive and reliable transportation solutions.
- Cost Management & Market Intelligence: Own the development and maintenance of transportation cost models and market benchmarks. Analyze supplier quotations, validate cost structures, and challenge pricing assumptions to ensure competitiveness and transparency. Identify market trends, risks, and opportunities, forecast cost developments, and provide data-driven recommendations that support sourcing strategies, tender activities, and business decisions.
- Bid & Project Support: Play a key role in supporting sales, tendering activities, and project execution by securing competitive transportation solutions, supplier capacity, and commercial insights. Develop accurate cost assessments and recommendations that contribute to winning projects while ensuring successful execution after award.
- Commercial Negotiation & Contract Management: Lead commercial negotiations and support the development of contractual agreements that align with business requirements while mitigating commercial and operational risks.
- Supplier Management & Development: Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships, monitor supplier performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives related to cost, quality, capacity, and service delivery.
- Compliance & Stakeholder Collaboration: Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and governance requirements while collaborating closely with logistics, construction, finance, legal, and sales stakeholders.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, or a similar commercial function
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, International Trade, Economics, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- German language skills at native speaker level are mandatory; Business-level English proficiency is essential, as all day-to-day communication, reporting, and documentation are conducted in English
- Experience within transport, logistics, heavy haulage, project cargo, infrastructure, energy, or other project-based industries is highly desirable, particularly in the planning and execution of oversized cargo transportation to site. Knowledge of route surveys, road modifications, permit management, and other requirements associated with wind turbine transportation is a strong advantage
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with analytical tools, with proven experience in price analysis, cost benchmarking, data interpretation, and identifying opportunities for cost optimization and process improvement
- Experience leading supplier negotiations and managing commercial agreements in a multinational environment
- Strong understanding of sourcing processes, supplier relationship management, contract negotiation, and procurement best practices
- Knowledge of SAP Ariba (Sourcing module) or similar procurement platforms is considered an advantage
- Willingness to travel occasionally across the EMEA region, as required (typically less than 15% of the time)
