The Regional Procurement Office (RPO) EMEA is responsible for procurement activities across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Balkans. Within RPO EMEA, the Logistics Procurement Hub manages the sourcing of inland transportation services for wind turbine components, including port handling, factory-to-port transport, and delivery to installation sites. Our diverse and collaborative team supports wind energy projects across the region.

 

Responsibilities 

 

The Logistic Purchaser (m/f/d) is responsible for establishing cost control, sourcing strategies, and supplier management processes for activities related to Wind Turbine Road Transport and Port Handling in the German market. 

The primary focus of the role will be Road Modification activities, transport special equipment, and other services related to the transportation of wind turbines, primarily within the German market. The role may also support additional logistics procurement activities as required by business needs. 

This role will focus on creating cost transparency, managing sourcing activities, negotiating supplier agreements, and implementing governance processes to improve cost control and commercial performance. 

The successful candidate will work closely with Logistics, Construction, Sales, Finance, and Legal stakeholders to support project execution and drive procurement excellence. 

This is a hands-on individual contributor role with no people management responsibilities. 

 

Your main tasks:

 

  • Lead end-to-end sourcing activities for Road Modification services, transport special equipment, and other services related to the transportation of wind turbines, primarily within the German market. 
  • Prepare, launch, evaluate, and award RFQs and tenders, ensuring competitive and transparent supplier selection processes, with main focus on Road Modification 
  • Conduct detailed commercial analyses and supplier comparisons to support fact-based sourcing decisions and cost optimization. 
  • Develop and implement cost control methodologies, reporting tools, and governance processes to increase transparency and strengthen procurement management across the assigned scope. 
  • Build and maintain cost benchmarks, identify cost drivers, and recommend sourcing strategies that improve competitiveness and operational efficiency. 
  • Lead contract and commercial negotiations with suppliers, including complex and high-value agreements requiring strong commercial acumen and stakeholder alignment. 
  • Establish and maintain productive supplier relationships while driving performance, accountability, and continuous improvement. 
  • Collaborate closely with Logistics, Construction, Finance, Legal, Sales, and Project stakeholders to ensure sourcing decisions support business objectives and project execution requirements. 
  • Support additional logistics procurement initiatives and sourcing activities within the German market as required by business needs. 
  • Take ownership of the assigned procurement scope, creating structure, governance, and sustainable procurement practices where opportunities for improvement exist. 

 

Qualifications 

 

  • 3+ years of experience in Procurement, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a similar commercial function.  
  • Native-level German language skills are mandatory.  
  • Business-level English proficiency is essential, as all day-to-day communication, reporting, and documentation are conducted in English.  
  • Experience in transport, logistics, heavy haulage, project cargo, infrastructure, energy, or other project-based industries is highly desirable. Exposure to oversized cargo transportation, route surveys, road modifications, permit management, or similar activities is an advantage.  
  • Strong analytical skills, including experience with price analysis, supplier comparisons, cost tracking, and identifying opportunities for cost optimization. Advanced Excel skills are highly desirable.  
  • Experience participating in supplier negotiations and supporting commercial agreement management.  
  • Good understanding of sourcing processes, supplier management, and procurement best practices.  
  • Experience with SAP Ariba (Sourcing module) or similar procurement platforms is considered an advantage.  
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.  
  • Willingness to travel occasionally within Germany and the EMEA region, as required (typically less than 15%).
