Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within VTO, you'll find our department, Technical Project Management, as part of RE&T NCE Offshore.
RE&T NCE Offshore serves as the vital link between our regional business unit, the value chain, and customer needs, ensuring seamless collaboration with Vestas’ central Research & Development team, which steers global product development.
The Deputy Technical Project Manager role in RE&T is a versatile and multifaceted position that demands strong technical understanding, a commercial mindset, and offshore operational skills. In this role, you will work closely with the construction project execution team, customers, and R&D engineering functions to facilitate the thorough implementation of offshore projects. Your primary focus will be delivering the best possible technical outcomes, supporting the rapid growth of the offshore wind sector.
Responsibilities
As a Deputy Technical Project Manager, you will work alongside the Technical Project Manager to ensure the seamless execution of offshore projects. Your role focuses on technical delivery, ensuring projects meet timelines, budgets, and safety and quality standards. Key responsibilities include coordination, development oversight, interface tracking, risk management, and project prioritization.
Your responsibilities will include
- Collaborate with the Technical Project Manager to define your involvement in specific activities and sub-projects
- Maintain day-to-day communication and alignment with relevant stakeholders to support effective project execution
- Act as a representative for the Technical Project Manager during internal meetings and, when required, serve as a substitute in customer interactions
- Ensure the project team has a clear understanding of the technical scope, coordinate deliverables, and provide support through all construction stages
- Work closely with Pre-installation Project Managers, Technical Site Specialists, Installation Managers, and Commissioning Managers to address technical problems and maintain alignment across the value chain
Following an intensive induction, you will take on full project lifecycle responsibility for offshore projects. You will also build and maintain relationships with key technical stakeholders, ensuring their requirements are effectively represented within Vestas. Additionally, you will act as a bridge between Offshore Construction Project Execution and the Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO) while developing a comprehensive understanding of the offshore market, customer needs, and operational challenges.
Qualifications
- A degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Marine Engineering, or a related field, complemented by commercial insight or interest. Alternatively, a commercial background with a strong understanding of technical aspects
- Experience in technical negotiations, especially involving heavy machinery, power plant equipment, or similar industries
- Experience in wind energy or an industrial plant environment is beneficial
- Good project management skills
- Fluency in business English (spoken and written)
- Its beneficial, if you are fluent in any Scandinavian or European language

The primary work location for this position is Hamburg, Germany.
