Senior Project Manager, Global Tools

Then you might be our new Senior Project Manager, who will be responsible for building a new tool center in EMEA. This is your chance to set a huge foot print in Vestas and be in charge of a complex project with a high level of external and internal stakeholder management.

Global Tools consists of six tool centers around the world. The tool centers aim is to deliver tools to all installation projects at the right time to the right price with a high focus on safety. The tool centers are in close collaboration with Construction, Service and Transport.

This position is responsible for delivery, management and execution of project portfolios within the tolerances and boundaries of time, cost, quality, scope, risk and benefits. Global Tools is about to expand with a new tool center in EMEA to support the future strategy. This will be your main task the first couple of years. 

Primary activities & products are divided within five areas:

1. Create and maintain project portfolio overview (scope, resources, timelines, risks, budget)

  • Responsible for prioritising, escalating and mitigating portfolio risks and translating them into business risks across Vestas value chain
  • Ensure and maintain a 12 months resource and budget forecasts within the portfolio
  • Report and escalate portfolio overview to Global Tools management and stakeholders

2. Start-up/initiate projects

  • Align and sign off project scope for the SBU's
  • Representing Global Tools in the development modules / product functions

3. Create and maintain high level project and ensure alignment with SBU's, platform and other stakeholders

  • Ensure unified framework / methodology for all projects in the portfolio
  • Ensure Global Tools is participating in decision forums e.g. Gate Reviews
  • Communicate and escalate changes to high level plans

4. Ensure project excellence throughout the Global Tools organisation

  • Coach and train PM in project planning and execution
  • Support Global Tools organisation in project planning and execution

5. Participate in driving the strategic translation supporting management in strategy deployment


  • Minimum a master's degree in engineering or business
  • Minimum 5-10 years' experience with project management in a large global organisation
  • Preferable experience with automatic storage, high bay warehouse or similar
  • High knowledge of modular development and new product introductions across a global value chain
  • Qualifications in project management tools e.g. Prince2, IPMA, People management, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma is required    
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Experience of Microsoft packages, SAP, BI or equivalent EPR knowledge 


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, focusing on good teamwork
  • Capability of coaching and leading high motivated project managers and team members
  • Proven ability to work both independently and in teams within tight deadlines
  • Open minded and good at sharing/gathering information within a project portfolio
  • Able to cope with change and working under ambiguous circumstances

Additional information
The work location will be in Copenhagen, Denmark.

You should expect approximately 60 travel days per year.
