As part of Vestas' journey towards a modular product, the technology has created Modules and Sub-Modules. Every Sub-Module owns and is fully responsible for a complete functional area of the wind turbine. Sub-module owners are critical to the organization as they are the people leading the development teams supporting those functional areas. This is a position of high responsibility, but also high impact, as Sub-Module owners are responsible not only for the development, but also for life-cycle management, strategy and roadmap of that functional domain. 

The Power -Train, Blades and Options Sub-Module sits within the Turbine SW Control Software Organization in Vestas. The team Sub-Module is accountable for a large amount of important functionalities in the wind turbine: control of critical systems some of the most important functionalities of the wind turbine: the control of the critical systems (e.g. the lubrication system for gear/generator), implementing and testing the software based on requirements, with the purpose of preventing turbine structural damage and personnel injuries, turbine downtime, all carried out in close collaboration with mechanical stakeholders. The department consists of highly skilled, international, highly experienced engineers who are taking responsibility for all aspects of the Safety Software deliverables which are placed across Portugal, Denmark, Denmark and India.

 

Responsibilities

  • Providing control software solutions to existing products and new developments 
  • Identifying and addressing issues reported from projects and turbines in operation 
  • The work involves high level of engineering, i.e. balancing a solution towards requirements from various stakeholders 
  • Validation of our solutions on all levels, including in-house tests, integration and field verification 
  • Documenting and presenting your work in a precise way to our internal and external stakeholders 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's / Master's in Computer Science / Electronics & Communication / Electrical / Similar Engineering specialization
  • 8+ years of work experience in software development 
  • Object Oriented & State-based software design 
  • Experience in real time embedded systems machine control
  • Development Experience with C++ 
  • Experience in scripting languages like python & SQL 
  • Experience in Control system using MATLAB Simulink
  • Hands-on experience with product or technology development 
  • Experience with SCRUM and Agile Development 
  • Understanding of Continuous integration solutions with e.g. Git, Jenkins, Atlassian suite
