Research & Development (R&D) > Towers R&D > Tower Project Management

Towers R&D is a department part of Vestas Technology & Operations responsible for research, design, test and development of the wind turbines' tower products. Through innovation, development and continuous product improvements, we continuously develop our products and technologies to reduce the cost and ensure integration of renewable energy. Always aiming to deliver the highest possible value to our customers and to Vestas.

Tower Project Management consists of 15 project managers and planners sited in Porto, Chennai, and Aarhus.

You will be coordinate end-to-end projects in the full value chain with teams across Vestas. The projects have significant business impact and you will balance large project budgets. As Project Manager, you will have a large and direct impact on Vestas' performance and the output from R&D.

You will be part of a Project Management network in Vestas, and you can be asked to participate in workgroups for improving Vestas' project processes and tools.

 

Responsibilities

  • Organize, budget, plan and coordinate projects end-to-end, implementing an effective organization of your projects, including a strong governance
  • Perform structured risk and change management and highlight cost/benefits, enabling correct decisions
  • Have a good overview of delivery of work packages going on in the project and be prepared to communicate time, budget, and scope status, risks, and mitigation options
  • Make sure that project data in systems are updated and can be trusted, contributing to development of project maturity in Vestas
  • Ensure that benefits are captured in projects, and input for negotiation for the project's prioritization is given
  • Facilitate business case considerations to be able to prioritize projects and project change scenarios
  • Build and maintain relations with a large range of stakeholders in the entire value chain, keeping your project team motivated and your stakeholders supportive

 

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or other relevant educational background
  • Documented experience of working with projects in a matrix organization with multi-disciplinary teams (minimum 7 years)
  • Project Management experience in large complex projects with global, multi-cultural teams (minimum 7 years)
  • Documented experience with stakeholder management and risk management at a highly professional level
  • Proficient in risk management and change management to ensure that business critical decisions are fact-based
  • Ideally have experience in Stage Gate Model project delivery
  • Ideally have achieved recognized Project Management accreditation (including Prince2, IPMA or similar)

  • Have proven leadership & communication skills targeting the relevant audience in the organization, across cultures
  • Well organized and disciplined in implementing projects, with proficiency in English
  • Good understanding of budgeting and why maintenance of project data is important to keep transparency
  • Be pro-active and outgoing leader, with great sense of responsibility
  • Maintain and communicate high level overview and can dive into details when needed
  • Welcoming changes and opportunities
  • Comprehensive business insight and understanding of how critical project decisions impacts Vestas business goals
  • Have good financial understanding and have ability to identify and guide towards project benefits
