The Powertrain Module in Vestas Power Solutions is responsible for developing the complete Vestas powertrain for both onshore and offshore wind turbines. The module consists of 3 submodules, Lubrication & MBA (Main Bearing Arrangement), Gearbox, and Generator. The Lubrication & MBA submodule is responsible and accountable for the design solutions of (i) the powertrain lubrication system, (ii) the main bearings and (iii) the structural components.

The Lubrication & MBA submodule team is located in four hubs, Aarhus in Denmark, Dortmund in Germany, Porto in Portugal and Chennai, India.

This position is for the Lubrication group and more specifically for the design of the Lubrication System in Chennai.

Responsibilities

  • Handling CAD Related activities in Rotor Lock actuation & PTR Lubrication assembly
  • Develop 3D-CAD design/models, 2D drawings and bill of materials based on design specifications
  • Ensure cost-efficient design and usage of standard parts as well as manufacturing standards
  • Embed relevant design and production knowledge into CAD by defining master models (parametrical models) and design guidelines/ checklists
  • Standardization of the CAD Library
  • Work on Piping, Lubrication Tank, Plate Heat Exchanger assembly, Brackets.
  • Define GPS/GD&T on drawings reflecting manufacturing standards & implement and supervise the ECM process (Engineering change management)
  • Work and Drive Engineering Changes (CR, CN & PR)

 

Qualifications

  • Master's / Bachelor's in Mechanical engineering
  • Min. 5 years of experience working with CAD Software like Creo
  • Experience with conducting feasibility studies on mechanical components/tools (CAD)
  • Experience with PDM Link Process

 

Competencies

  • Focused mindset, motivated & committed. Self-driven behavior
  • Good skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Good understanding of Design for Manufacturing / Assembly / Service concepts
  • ISO standards related to Hydraulic Pipe, Welding structures, & Structural Component
  • Feasibility studies: knowledge of the execution of feasibility studies
  • System interface design & stakeholder management
  • Experience in 3D modelling and 2D drawings, using Creo Parametric
  • Experience with PTC Windchill PDM link Process
