Mechanical > Tower > Tower Digitalization & Automation
Tower Digitalization & Automation department is responsible for the Tower CAD segment, Bill of materials & ECM processes. The team specializes in Creation & utilization of Automation tools and techniques to have an optimized 3D/2D, MBD set-up in line with Industry 4.0 requirements. We also provide full value chain solutions towards Life extension of Old turbines. We support with customized solutions based on Market and Project demands. High focus on Efficiency and Quality standards to ensure high quality & on time output. The Team is based in Chennai, IN.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end CAD deliverables planning, ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality, and cost targets
- Run design reviews and ensure closure of design comments across stakeholders
- Collaborate with global teams to ensure standardization of CAD models, drawing practices, and PLM workflows
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company design guidelines
- Interface with manufacturing, sourcing, and service teams to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and serviceability (DFS)
- Implement digital transformation initiatives, including MBD adoption, automation scripts, and CAD configuration improvement
- Support risk assessment (DFMEA) and mitigation strategies during the design lifecycle
- Monitor KPIs related to CAD productivity, quality, and turnaround time, and initiate corrective actions
- Coordinate resolution of critical design issues and escalations with cross-functional teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor's / master's degree in mechanical / manufacturing / Similar specialization
- Certification or formal training in Creo/Windchill or similar CAD/PLM tools
- Knowledge or certification in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards (ASME Y14.5 or ISO GPS)
- Exposure to simulation tools (FEA basics) or integration with CAD workflows
- Familiarity with Agile or Lean product development methodologies
- Experience working in a global engineering setup or cross-cultural environment
- Knowledge of industrial automation, scripting, or API-based tool integration for CAD/PLM systems
- Understanding of configuration management and product structuring in PLM systems
- Exposure to wind energy domain or heavy engineering industry
Competencies
- Experience in CAD environment & PLM Windchill
- Knowledge on ISO standards for design & drafting
- Understanding and exposure to Design methodologies, Concept creation & selection through PUGH Matrix or similar
- Understanding and exposure to Systemic Root cause analysis
- Understanding on Change management processes
- Experience in Excel VBA, Python - added advantage
- Have good communication skills to convey complex problems to a wide range of stakeholders
- Initiative-taking and demonstrate leadership skill through leading various initiatives
