Global Customs & Trade Team is part of the Engineering & Business Service Center, it is spearheading the efforts to enhance and develop the Customs & Trade Compliance Processes within Vestas to the next level of excellence. 

Global Trade & Customs Team works in association with internal and external stakeholders on various path-breaking initiatives, such as Customs Cost-Out, AEO Certification, Trade-related strategic development initiatives etc., and is in a constant endeavor to add value to the organization through its various initiatives and programs. In addition to the development initiatives, the Global Customs & Trade Team is also supporting documentation related activities, such as European Union Trade Documentation & Customs Documentation & Services, with an objective to support the Customs & Trade-related transactional and documentation activities in an efficient and effective manner.

 

Responsibilities

  •  Drive a robust trade compliance program through formalized standards/SOPs/metrics which ensure accuracy and consistency in all the Trade activities and Import/export transactions

  •  Assist in reviewing import / export / customs related processes and support in compliance enhancement and implementation programs in the regions

  •  Support in (i) customs duty optimization, (ii) HS classification, (iii) customs valuation or any other topics, focusing on the regions but also from a Global standpoint

  •  In-depth knowledge of USA & EU Customs Laws and Regulations & previous experience driving process standardization and AEO programs in various countries

  •  Analyze and evaluate the most appropriate HS classification in different countries and regions

  •  Propose the Duty levers and trade programs / models, which would optimize the Customs Duty

  •  Coordinate with Regional Teams on enhancing trade compliance, customs processes, and implementation of cost optimization opportunities

  •  Drive a culture of continuous improvement being responsible for monitoring and reviewing processes to generate ideas and improvements as appropriate

  •  Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global trade regulations and requirements, and monitor changes to trade policies and customs regulations

  •  Proactively identify gaps and draft corresponding action plans to mitigate risk and ensure timely completion

  •  Support and assist with the implementation with any global and/or local/regional project/process by being a strong contributor and showing enthusiasm to work as a team player

  •  Conducting periodic internal compliance assessments to ensure adherence to policies, procedures and compliance of all trade activities and transactions with appropriate import/export laws and recordkeeping

  •  Conduct training on customs & trade compliance laws and regulations, as well as applicable policies and procedures to the internal stakeholders

 

Qualifications

  •  Graduate / post-graduate from a reputed Institute or University preferably in International Business, Supply Chain or related field
  •  Minimum 7-10 years of proven experience in Customs, Trade Compliance and Documentation area
  •  Solid knowledge of US, EU and APAC Import / export regulations and regulatory requirements
  •  Hands-on experience with customs clearance, import/export documentation and trade compliance management
  •  Demonstrated knowledge & Experience in HS (tariff) classification, customs valuation and country of origin Determination
  • Good knowledge of import/export customs regulations, Free Trade Agreements, Rules of Origin, Import Duties and taxes, International Regulations

 

Competencies

  • Good Experience in crafting the SOP's & reports and presentation skills (the ability to present trade compliance concepts in a technical environment and to persons at all levels)
  • Critical thinking and excellent problem solving and analysis skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize with excellent time management skills
  • Capable of working independently in support of customs and trade compliance objectives and working collaboratively with different stakeholders across the business and the regions
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with SAP is preferred
