Come join the new Vestas Blades Process Engineering organization. The Finish & Paint operational support department within the Blades Finish & Paint PE: Operational support will actively support the factories and be connecting link between the practical operations and the more technical departments for Finish & Paint in PE and R&D. Continues improvements of manufacturing processes are one of the keys responsibly of Technical support. Materials qualifications are also lay within  technical support. There will be between 2-3 operational support engineers working with Finish & Paint  Process.  The whole Finish & paint department will consist of 9-12 high educated engineers or equal education, and they will be divided into 5 teams: Process, Tooling, Documentation, Operational Support and Training. 

 

Responsibilities

As a Operational Support Engineer at Vestas, you will play a key role in improving the manufacturing processes for wind turbine blades. If you do not have a deep knolled withing composite materials and blades manufacturing, you will have high motivation to get it.  Your improvements shall support process stability and capability to improve overall business performance; Safety Quality Delivery and Cost (SQDC). 

  • Drive continuous improvement on Finish & Paint processes across the manufacturing sites and conduct Materials qualifications.
  • Analysis of AS IS and future state and be proactive in improving activities
  • Create and maintain a plan for improvement 
  • Create the needed Engineering Change Notices (CN’s)
  • Leading improvement tasks / projects
  • Case handler on an escalation process, used when factories can not progress the production – meaning it is both urgent and most of the time critical to get solved fast.
  • Conduct material qualifications including plans for the material tests, ensure all tests are documented according to our business processes. 
  • Be part of building a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability
  • Use digital tools like data analytics to improve performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Investigating and solving production issues using structured methods such as the 5x Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and FMEA.
  • Applying continuous improvement principles using quality tools like Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Lean.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in  Mechanical engineer or material engineer alike
  • GB Six Sigma or alike
  • About 6-8 years of experience in similar roles as described above
  • Leading improvement tasks
  • Analyses manufacturing process, including material performance
  • Knowledge of Material qualification
  • Manufacturing process specification
  • Process flow creation 
  • Worked in a data driven organization.
  • Driven optimization and standardization within manufacturing processes with use of the toolbox also mentioned above.

 

Competencies

  • A blend of technical, analytical, and operational competencies tailored to composite materials, precision manufacturing, and continuous improvement. 
  • Composite Materials Knowledge, understanding of paint, paint systems, fiberglass, epoxy resins, and other materials used in production.
  • Process Design & Optimization Expertise in processes blades Finish & Paint, or manufacturing processes in general.
  • You are interested and willing to spend time in the factory environment as required to understand and solve problems
  • Data-Driven Decision Making, use statistical Process Control
  • Use of tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and FMEA to identify and solve production issues. 
  • You are self-motivated; result-oriented and possess great organizational discipline
  • You find it exciting and interesting to work with other people in a large organization and can build up an intensive network across cultures and time zones and work with stakeholders
  • You are customer-oriented and can understand the complete business value chain seen from a customer perspective
  • You are committed to learning
