The Contracts Manager is a construction role which sits in the Contracts Management department within the broader Customer Project Execution (CPX) team. The CPX team is responsible for the construction of wind farms, from producing proposals for developers through to hand over to the Service organisation.
Working collaboratively in a matrix structure with the Construction and Legal teams, as well as with other relevant stakeholders including but not limited to Finance, Transportation and the Client/Principal, the Contracts Manager works to preserve the commercial interest of Vestas while ensuring contractual compliance.
Responsibilities
This role will manage a portfolio of Vestas' contracts to ensure compliance, cost control and risk management, while preserving and enhancing Vestas' commercial and contractual position on projects under construction throughout Asia. This role applies Vestas’ procedures and processes to contract administration and uses contractual knowledge to design and carry out claim and dispute strategies. The position will typically be integrated within multiple project teams in a matrix structure.
- Responsible for operational and commercial aspects of contractual compliance, execution and performance
- Support management and project teams through interpretation of contractual provisions in the context of live project conditions
- Develop, review and negotiate variations and cost/time claims
- Prepare and develop claim and dispute strategies and options, and execute agreed strategies
- Ensure compliance of all contracts and other legal instruments with Vestas internal guidelines for acceptable commercial commitments and other risk policies
- Manage the lessons learned process to improve Vestas' position on projects under negotiation and to further develop contract administration process and procedures
- Review and provide timely input on draft agreements during closing process
- Develop and maintain the contracts database to capture life-cycle requirements for reference and management of operational and commercial obligations
- Participate in direct customer conversations and negotiations as part of a coordinated project team to resolve specific issues
- Develop and maintain standardized contract templates tailored to specific countries
- Develop and maintain effective professional working relationships with Vestas Sales, Legal, Construction, Finance and other departments.
- Manage contract lifecycle administration, including amendments, claims, dispute resolution, and close-out/handover processes
- Direct involvement in dispute avoidance/resolution strategies
Qualifications
We are looking for a person with qualifications and experience that align with the below. We are open to receiving applications from candidates who may not meet all criteria but can demonstrate extensive relevant experience.
- Minimum bachelor's degree qualified in construction, legal or commercial field
- Experience of, or qualifications in, Contract Law
- 8+ years' experience managing contracts within construction, including from contractor side
- Demonstrated capabilities in problem solving, negotiations, and conflict resolution
- Ability to plan, organize and handle several tasks at once, and prioritize and execute assigned workload to meet multiple deadlines. Detail oriented
- High proficiency with standard IT tools including Microsoft Office, and comfortable learning and using new internal IT platforms.
- Wind industry experience is an added advantage

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite as well as experience working with SAP and Procore (or similar Contract Management software)
- Able to collaborate across cultures to build a supportive team environment

- Ability to find simplicity in the midst of complexity
- Effective English written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly in technical and non-technical terms
