Aerodynamic & Mechanical > Tower Module > Tower Internals

 

Tower Internals is a Sub Module of the Tower R&D within the Research and Development area in VTO (Vestas Technology and Operations). Research and Development is a business unit where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, maintained and tested. Research and development operates on a global scale with more than 2,300 employees.
Tower R&D is the technology department responsible for the design and innovation of Vestas Towers. The Tower organization is 140+ strong responsible for the design, development, industrialization and lifecycle support of tower products.
We are a team of diverse people with different technical competencies, educational backgrounds and personal traits. We are very open-minded and encourage a go-do-approach.

 

Responsibilities

  • Identification and requirements specification for the Tower Internals Building Blocks
  • Design new solutions from early conceptualization to final detail design
  • Optimization of the solutions through FEA assessment and structural calculation
  • Verification of the new solutions performing Fit, Form and Function tests in our wind Turbine Tower prototypes
  • Coordinate suppliers and co-develop new Building Blocks through Technical Purchase Specifications
  • Lead technical work-packages ensuring safety, quality, time and cost expectations

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master´s degree in Mechanical, Structural, Industrial or Aeronautical Engineering
  • Minimum professional experience: 5 years in new product development within the wind industry or similar
  • Proven experience with design activities like DFMEA, Design Risk Assessment, Design Verification Procedures and Design Verification Result
  • Proven experience leading technical work-packages and design through suppliers
  • Mechanical design and BoM creation using CAD tools, preferably CREO
  • Understanding of structural analysis using FEA tools, preferably Ansys

  • Proven ability to work both with limited supervision and in teams in an environment with tight deadlines
  • Open-minded and good at sharing and gathering information within a team to bridge the gap between design and value chain
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Ability to plan, scope and organize work package execution
