Safety-Focused HSE Specialist - Pueblo and Brighton, CO

Manufacturing & Global Procurement/Assembly, Generators & Towers/Assembly Region Americas 
Primary HSE SME for assigned region and to oversee the Brighton Nacelles, Pueblo Towers, Brazil and Argentina factory operations.  Advises the Factory Supervision and Leadership Teams in the administration of the Vestas HSE Management Systems. Active participant of the reginal team and is responsible for the four factories safety programs within this region. Conducts audits of the four facilities HSE programs, assists in investigations and makes recommendations to the reginal head and the four factory leadership groups. Reviews and trains as required to ensure compliance with occupational safety, health and environmental regulations



  • Directs the Champions for the Vestas Behavioral Safety and Safety Committee teams across the region and coordinates local programs with other regions worldwide
  • Plan, develop and implement safety and health standards, criteria and guidelines, such as those issued by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and Vestas Corporate applicable regulations. Monitors the factory’s compliance level and recommend action for identified at-risk situations
  • Plan, develop and deliver HSE Training curriculum using standard computer presentation programs, to train team members, supervisors, and managers in factory and corporate Vestas HSE practices
  • Leads HSE Management System review and input to process hazard assessments and change management of policy, procedures, machines, and equipment for injury prevention



  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or Industrial Safety, or similar perspective and 5 years direct experience with training/ certifications in health, safety and environment.  
  • Experience with Workers Compensation, HSE, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 program management, Industrial Hygiene principles and equipment 
  • Familiarity with Behavioral Safety Principles and execution
  • In depth knowledge of Root Cause Analysis methodologies



  • High-level verbal and written communication skills required within company, HSE teams, stakeholders, in all levels of the organization, which may be located in different time zones and countries across the global company footprint. Communicate any changes to regional standards related to safety and environmental regulations. 
  • Passionate about HSE areas, with a focus on safety
  • Possess ability to change and influence cultures and behaviors and influence leadership teams
  • Implement strategies and safety campaigns

Additional Information
This position is based in Brighton, Colorado and will require about 30% travel yearly.
