Department Description:

The Offshore Quality Project Manager will be responsible for the Quality Management of Vestas's offshore wind projects, from contract signing to when the project is handed over to the service department. This position will assure the quality of the WTG delivery to the Customer's specification and Vestas' processes, from the time the WTG Components leave the factory and external Suppliers until the finished turbines are commissioned and tested. The Offshore Quality Project Manager is responsible for ensuring effective Quality Management and Quality Control throughout the project through defining quality risk / opportunity, implementation of prevention, maintenance and improvement of company and project relevant procedures, tools etc.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and maintain project-specific quality plans that cover all phases of work on Vestas' offshore wind projects, including transport to US and all US activities (design, manufacturing, transport, assembly, staging activities, load-out and installation), in accordance with the principles and guidelines of the APQP4Wind.
  • Establish and maintain an Inspection, test and audit plan for the project prior to purchase of materials and commencement of fabrication.
  • Establish, implement and maintain a system to track, control and trend quality deviations, in Vestas and subcontractor products and processes throughout the works.
  • Identify, evaluate and maintain quality records to document traceability and to provide evidence of verification/validation, correction, corrective action and preventive action.
  • Advise and assist the project team members in relation to quality assurance matters.
  • Ensure continuous follow-up on the quality assurance for the offshore wind projects in order to safeguard that specified requirements are met.
  • Ensure that documentation for the contractual quality elements is suitable.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the customer in relation to quality issues on the offshore wind projects.
  • Follow up and maintenance of all the quality documentation for the offshore wind projects. (PQP and ITAP)
  • Advise and assist the project quality team in relation to host customer audits and inspections.
  • Management of the quality resources in the offshore wind projects.
  • Management of training for the PQM & QA/QI resources.
  • Escalate serious quality issues to the management.

 

Qualifications:

  • 7+  years industry experience in Construction/Service/Field operations
  • 5+ years with direct project management responsibility 
  • 2+ years experience in Offshore operations
  • Skilled background in construction, for example in wind or oil & gas industries, with experience in projects with mechanical and electrical requirements
  • Construction execution skills in all aspects including inspection, test plan implementation, punch list management, hand-over packages, and customer management
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and APQP requirements with process/product auditing expertise
  • Proven proficiency in analysis and structured problem-solving methods

 

Competencies:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience influencing and directing motivated, cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to recognize, differentiate, and direct responses to technical issues.
  • Solid written and verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to perform under high priority and innovative work environment handling multiple deliverables.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical conduct, honesty, integrity and teamwork.
