Associate Sales Director, Offshore –

General Purpose:

Vestas is the global leader in wind energy, advancing toward our goal of leadership in the offshore segment with the full acquisition of our former offshore joint venture and the introduction of the V236-15.0 MW turbine, the largest available. The energy transition is underway worldwide and offshore wind in the United States is poised for significant growth. Working directly with a senior commercial leader, the Associate Director, Offshore Sales is a key member of our commercial deal team collaborating internally with an array of stakeholders and innovating customer engagement




  • Support the development and achievement of business plans and strategic targets for North America.
  • Identify the drivers and segments of the marketplace and position the company and its offerings.
  • Originate and maintain solid relationships with consultants, developers, financing parties, and local governmental entities.
  • Support deal strategy development, pricing, and creative analysis.
  • Participate in sales planning, forecasting and goal setting.
  • Support deal closing activities including internal and external interfaces as needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate handovers from Sales to Projects.
  • Conduct outreach activities such as attending trade shows, conferences and seminars, and keeping up to date on trends and developments that affect all facets of the industry.


Essential Functions:


  • Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly.
  • Ability to influence across organizational boundaries with a solid focus on working with and understanding different cultures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.


Education, Training, and Skills Required:


  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA preferred.
  • 2-4 years’ experience in all of the following skill sets as they relate to sales: technical sales; commercial customer communications; contract negotiation; or legal knowledge; and has distinct expertise in at least one of these disciplines.
  • Experience procuring or selling power generation equipment in the wind industry or in a complex capital sales environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of US power markets preferred.
  • Flexibility with travel-based on the overall company goals (up to 35%).
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience influencing and directing motivated, cross-functional teams.
  • A “Key Account Mindset” -- specifically an understanding of how to handle customer accounts and support team selling. Proven aptitude to identify business opportunities and initiate customer contact and guide others in doing so.
  • Ability to recognize, differentiate, and direct a response to technical issues.
  • Great written, and verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Solid critical skills and ability to make business case comparisons for internal and external presentation.
  • Ability to perform under high priority and innovative work environment handling multiple deliverables.
  • Good attitude for teamwork.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical conduct, honesty, and integrity.




  • Boston, Massachusetts preferred but remote work within the US may be considered for the right candidate.
