We are seeking a highly qualified Data Scientist for our Plant Optimization Team, focusing on Power Forecasting based on Weather forecasting and Machine Learning. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in power forecasting, statistical modeling, machine learning, and deep learning techniques, along with good experience with cloud platforms, particularly Azure. Experience is also essential.

Responsibilities
- Apply statistical modeling and machine learning for Power forecasting of wind and/or solar parks
- Design and implement robust model management processes to govern the entire ML lifecycle, including development, deployment, and operations
- Define accurate, statistically sound summary metrics to evaluate and benchmark forecasting model performance effectively
- Translate statistical analyses on system performance into actionable insights and communicate findings to cross-functional teams, customers, partners, and executives to ensure measurable business impact
- Work collaboratively within Agile teams comprising Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and Software developers to research, develop, and deliver forecasting solutions that create business value
- Interact with domain experts to understand real-world challenges and interpret approaches for practical, impactful solutions
- Research and apply advanced ML techniques to improve forecasting accuracy
- Optimize models for scalability and performance in production environments
- Ensure data quality, security, and compliance with organizational standards
- Anticipate internal and external business issues, recommend best practices, and provide strategic guidance on product, process, or service improvements to overcome challenges
- Represent Vestas within the industry and scientific community by building relationships, sharing knowledge, and encouraging collaboration among peers
Qualifications
- Bachelor's/Master's / PhD in Computer Science / Data Science / Statistics / Mathematics / STEM / Similar specialization
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Science and frameworks, including proficiency with data preparation and data exploration techniques
- Application of machine learning techniques such as data mining, statistical analysis
- Proficient communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Ability to self-manage workload and collaborate in an evolving global environment
Competencies
- Extensive proficiency in Python and its libraries (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow/Keras, PyTorch, MLflow, etc.)
- Experience with SQL and data manipulation
- Solid understanding of machine learning algorithms and statistical modeling
- Good knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly Azure
- Experience using Databricks for ML workflows
- Practical experience with PySpark for distributed data processing
- Experience in building and managing CI/CD pipelines for machine learning models
- Knowledge of model deployment, monitoring, and retraining strategies in production environments
- Proficiency with version control systems (Git)
- Demonstrated experience working in Scrum teams
- Experience with time-series analysis and weather forecasting
- Solid foundation in probability, statistics, and optimization techniques
- Proficiency in creating and implementing comprehensive production-ready machine learning workflows with PySpark, Databricks, and cloud-based systems
- Experience with large language models (LLMs) such as GPT, BERT, or similar:- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques, model fine-tuning and AI agent/orchestration frameworks for autonomous workflows
