The Contract Management Team Leader role is within Customer & Contract Management function, embedded in the Service organization, where it plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality customer experience and professional contract management throughout the service phase of wind farms.
The Contract Management Department works closely with Service Managers, Customer Managers, Legal & Compliance, and broader operational, technical, and commercial stakeholders to safeguard Vestas' contractual and commercial interests. The department supports operations by providing contractual interpretation, ensuring compliance with obligations, advising on commercial risks, and managing dispute resolution or avoidance strategies. It is instrumental in enabling seamless delivery of O&M services and strong customer relationships across regions.
Responsibilities
A Contract Management Team Leader at Vestas is responsible for activities prior to and during the service phase, including:
- Contract Interpretation & Compliance: Interpret, summarize, and advise service teams on contractual scope, obligations, rights, and remedies to ensure compliance and alignment with commercial expectations
- Customer & Stakeholder Communication: Review incoming customer/contractor communications, prepare responses, draft notices and submissions, and support negotiations of settlement agreements to ensure efficient dispute resolution
- Claims & Defect Handling: Maintain oversight of defect claims and coordinate evaluations and resolutions across departments
- Contract Lifecycle Management: Maintain contract databases, ensure documentation accuracy, track lifecycle obligations, and support operational teams in executing contract terms
- Commercial Support & Negotiation: Contribute to negotiation tactics, settlement discussions, and contract amendments, ensuring alignment with internal risk policies and optimized commercial outcomes
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Service Sales, Service Operations, Procurement, Legal, Construction, and Project Management to ensure alignment on obligations, disputes, pricing, claims, and risk mitigation
- Continuous Improvement: Provide lessons learned to improve future contract drafting and contribute to process enhancement efforts across contract-related workflows
- Managing a Customer Support Team
Qualifications
Typical qualifications based on similar Vestas's roles include:
- Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical/financial field
- Experience in contract management, within energy or wind industry (valuable), or heavy construction sectors (5+ years depending on seniority)
- Understanding of energy contract structures and experience with claims, warranty issues, extensions of time, and cost-based claims
- High proficiency in English
