The Support Structure Solutions team is part of the Offshore Technical Sales Management department being the offshore-focused arm of our Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) - Technical Sales organization in Northern & Central Europe (NCE), providing the link between our sales business unit and our customer needs towards the central power solutions team, responsible for global product development in Vestas.
The Lead Support Structure Engineer role requires technical skills within the area of offshore engineering and project management. You will work within the Offshore Technical Sales Management team, in direct interface with the commercial Sales group, Construction/Project management teams, our customers as well as central engineering functions, to deliver the best possible technical solution for our offshore customers.

 

Responsibilities
As a Lead Support Structure Engineer, you will be responsible for the site-specific integrated load analysis, tower and foundation design process for our offshore projects. You will be working closely with the customer and the customer's foundation designer and be overall accountable for Vestas providing timely and optimised solutions, fulfilling customer needs and requirements. After an intensive induction, you will be assigned to Vestas' sales activities for offshore.
In this role, your main tasks will be:

  • Ensure timely and correct responses to customer enquiries, prepare clarifications and deviations to tenders in relation to the loads and support structure area
  • Evaluation of tower and foundation optimization levers to maximize project value while managing risks
  • Responsibility and accountability for the site-specific Integrated Load Analysis (ILA) process working in collaboration with external as well internal stakeholders
  • Ensure customer alignment with regards to the tower/foundation design process as well as optimization for the given project conditions
  • Be the interface to the project design certifier and manage the project design certification activities
  • Contribute to identify market requirements and trends to promote product, tool, and process development
  • Be prepared to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in the area of Offshore Support Structure design optimization

 

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. within a relevant field of engineering 
  • Experience within offshore loads or support structure design domain would be beneficial
  • Previous experience in the wind energy sector would be beneficial
  • Fluent in written and verbal English, additional language skills would be advantageous

 

Competencies

  • Ability to work internationally, with large-scale industrial projects and demanding customers
  • Presentation skills with ability and confidence to present to sales project management
  • Good communication skills and experience interacting with a variety of technical and commercial stakeholders
  • Work results-oriented, independent and with a high level of accountability
  • Knowledge of (offshore) turbine load evaluation and relevant standards within this area is beneficial
  • Knowledge of (offshore) tower and foundation designs and relevant standards within this area is beneficial
  • In addition to technical, quantitative and analytical skills, you´ll need to have customer focus and have the ability to build and manage relationships with customers and their consultants
