Vestas Digital Technology Solutions (DTS) is where the digital backbone of Vestas is being developed, tested, and improved to shape the future of energy solutions. Simulation Development is a new, rapidly growing department of highly motivated engineers, responsible for propelling and maturing how we simulate across our wind turbine platforms and modules. Join our Modelling team as a Software (SW) Engineer, and you will have the opportunity to support the modular product development across the engineering departments of Research & Development (R&D) in Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO). By applying your knowledge in software development, you will assist engineers from different backgrounds, ensuring they have a positive experience that enables them to concentrate on their core responsibilities.

Join us as Student Software Developer to improve digitalization in Vestas. Digitalization is an integrated part of almost every effort at Vestas and it is necessary to make it as simple as possible through golden paths/paved roads. This provides engineers who may not have a software background with the opportunity to focus on their strengths - producing remarkable wind turbine designs.
This role is both making known best practices straightforward such as:
- Template for deploying an application to Kubernetes
- Template for creating a website using e.g. Dash
- Template for using Entra ID in an application
- Template for creating a bot that automatically checks pull-requests and merges them
But also prototyping efforts such as:
- How can I traverse a system architecture model through the SysMLv2 to extract relevant properties for a certain case?
- How can I create a private package repository for modelica models?
- How can I use the approach described in paper X for a certain case?
The role will be diverse, and you will touch upon different paradigms, languages, tooling and technology. This role suits curious and skilled software developers who want to contribute meaningfully to problem-solving.
Responsibilities
As a Student Worker developer, your primary responsibilities include:
- Creating practical and pragmatic solutions that fulfil a need
- Create enabling digital tooling for engineers of various background
- Convert the guidance from the central IT department into simple, concrete tools for creating solutions that adhere to them
- Assist with improving various tools, code bases, pipelines and similar
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in a Danish university with minimum 1 and a 1/2 year until graduation
- B.Sc. (or close to) in Software Development or similar
- Experience with programming languages (Python, C/C++, Rust, Java, Rust, HTML, Typescript/Javascript, PowerShell, Bash)
- Experience with Git and pipelines
- Knowledge of cloud solutions, e.g. Azure
- Knowledge of systems modelling and simulation
- Knowledge of DevOps and Developer Experience
