Power Solutions > Aerodynamic & Mechanical > Modularized Nacelle
Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within Vestas Power Solutions (VPS), you'll find our department, Modularized Nacelle, as part of Aerodynamic & Mechanical. Our department, Modularized Nacelle, has sites in Denmark, Portugal, and India.

Responsibilities
As a member of our team of dedicated Engineers and Specialists, you will be responsible for the design and integrity of the Next Generation Nacelle structure. Your tasks will encompass a variety of design and optimization activities, including:

  • Engage with all relevant stakeholders to ensure clarity and alignment on design requirements. Translate top-level specifications into detailed building block requirements
  • Develop and design interfaces to other systems, ensuring seamless integration
  • Incorporate a value chain perspective in the design functionality
  • Conduct design analyses, including bolts and welds, fatigue assessments, and reliability calculations, with a focus on lifetime estimates based on data
  • Assess design risks and safety concerns
  • Develop and optimize tools used internally to enhance design processes
  • Work closely with experts in other engineering disciplines, such as structures, electrical, loads, and control
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all design activities

In addition to these responsibilities, you will be expected to bring a spirit of innovation and critical thinking to our projects. Your ability to meet the challenges of designing larger and more complex wind turbine structures within tight time and cost constraints will be crucial.

Lastly, you will be an integral part of our team, sharing knowledge, successes, and failures, and contributing to our collective growth and success.


Qualifications

  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of combined relevant experience in the following areas:
    • Design and development of dynamic mechanical systems
    • Finite Element Analysis (FEA), including proficiency with Ansys Workbench and APDL scripts. Coding proficiency in a common scripting language (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
    • Thorough understanding of the static and dynamic behavior of mechanical steel structures
    • Systems Engineering (beneficial)
    • Manufacturing experience with welded or bolted solutions and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques such as UT, VT, and MT (beneficial)
    • Experience in wind turbine design and familiarity with 3rd party certification processes (beneficial)
    • Modular product development

  • Ability to efficiently utilize a variety of software tools and processes in our workflow
  • Develop creative solutions to challenges, including the development or integration of new tools and processes
  • Enjoy working on complex engineering problems and approach new tasks creatively
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English, enabling effective liaison with various stakeholders at different levels within the organization
  • Highly motivated, result-oriented, and possess a clear sense of responsibility
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies, such as SCRUM, and experience with JIRA
  • Background in project management, business education or experience
  • Experience working within large corporate organizations
