Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO) is the integrated CTO and COO organization within Vestas, encompassing the full industrial value chain — from Research & Development, Procurement and Manufacturing to Supply Chain and Quality. VTO’s mission is to transform the way Vestas engineers, sources, contracts, manufactures and delivers its products to consistently meet the highest standards for quality, cost efficiency and time-to-market. The role is anchored within the Product Applications and Controls organization, which encompasses the IT, OT, data, and digital technology capabilities that shape the future technology roadmap for Vestas’ products. Software Verification and Release Management team is part of Software Integration & Test department.

In this role, you will play a key part in connecting processes, stakeholders, and systems to help us reach our ambitious goals within the software delivery domain.
We are seeking a Software Release Manager to lead and orchestrate software releases developed within our Software R&D organization. This position is responsible not only for coordinating releases but also for managing and aligning release requirements from across our broader value chain. You will work at the intersection of technology and process, ensuring that high‑quality software reaches our products efficiently and reliably.
You will join a global team of dedicated professionals—including Project Managers, Release Managers, Test Managers, Verification Specialists, and DevOps Engineers—who collaborate closely to enhance our software verification and release capabilities. The team consists of approximately 40 colleagues based in Aarhus, Denmark, and Porto, Portugal, working together across locations to drive continuous improvements and innovation in our software lifecycle.
Responsibilities
You will be the cornerstone of making sure we deliver high quality software upgrades to our sites all over the world.
- Manage and align stakeholder requirements with planned deliveries from the software development organization
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of global fleet software releases
- Ensure cross organizational alignment on the scope and features included in each software release
- Plan and oversee verification and release activities to ensure high quality software upgrades are delivered to sites worldwide
- Communicate progress, risks, and updates clearly and consistently to relevant stakeholders
- Coordinate resource needs and prioritization in collaboration with line management and regional stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement of verification and release processes through a data driven and structured approach
Qualifications
- A relevant educational background in Business, Business Development, or Engineering, combined with at least 5 years of experience in Project or Program Management within a large, complex organization
- Proven project management experience, preferably within software development environments
- Experience with data‑driven performance management, including defining KPIs and implementing dashboards or reporting tools such as Power BI (advantageous)
- Experience navigating and implementing changes in large, matrixed organizations
- Ability to engage, influence, and collaborate effectively with executive stakeholders and cross functional peer groups
- Foundational understanding of software development, verification, and release processes
- Familiarity with DevOps principles and practices

The primary work location for this position is Aarhus, Denmark.
