As a Software Development Engineer in the IO team at Vestas, you’ll be developing and maintaining embedded low-level software for the control systems across our turbine portfolio, playing a crucial role in the efficiency and reliability of our technology, driving sustainable energy solutions on a global scale.
Vestas Technology & Operations -> Research & Development (R&D) -> IO
The IO sub-module is a department within Vestas Power Solutions, responsible for developing and maintaining embedded low-level software stacks deployed in the control systems used across the whole portfolio of Vestas Wind Turbines and Power Plants.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement embedded software solutions for control systems in both wind turbines and power plants
- Develop low-level software stacks, including device drivers, communication protocols, and real-time control algorithms
- Engage with various departmental groups to facilitate smooth software and hardware interfaces and perform thorough testing and validation of software to assure consistent and effective operation of control systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues in a timely manner
- Individual self-drive and take ownership of tasks, making informed decisions and defending those choices effectively
- Participate actively in a high-achievement context that recognizes both personal initiative and cooperative engagement
- Engage actively in code review sessions and ensure thorough maintenance of software development process documentation, demonstrating a robust capacity for providing technical guidance and oversight on key projects within the domain
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science/ Electronics from a premier institute with 3 - 7 years of industry experience
- Proficiency in programming Languages C++
- Proven experience in embedded software development, particularly in real-time operating systems
- Experience of hardware interfaces and protocols used in control systems i.e. serial, Modbus, CAN
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and development environments (e.g. Visual Studio)

- Proficient in detailed analysis and the resolution of complex problems
- Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
- Adept at handling numerous responsibilities simultaneously while ensuring timely completion of each
- Passion for renewable energy and a commitment to sustainability
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and new technologies in a fast-paced environment
