Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. Within VTO, you'll find our department, Powertrain Technical Management, as part of Powertrain Module.
The Powertrain Module is responsible for developing complete powertrain solutions for both onshore and offshore applications. Key design elements include the main bearing arrangement, gearbox, and generator, along with supporting auxiliary components. The team focuses on delivering optimized solutions that consider the full value chain, ensuring efficiency, reliability, and innovation.
Powertrain Technical Management is a cross-functional sub-department within the Powertrain Module, responsible for ensuring final approval of module requirements, design solutions, technical quality, and risk management across Powertrain sub-modules. The team leads feasibility studies and defines the initial scope of Powertrain projects while ensuring alignment across functions and the entire value chain. Additionally, it facilitates the development of next-generation powertrain technologies, promoting innovation and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
In this role, you will report directly to the Powertrain Module Design Owner and collaborate closely with the Project Manager, Senior Function Leads, and Sub-Module Technical Leads. Your primary task will be to provide technical project leadership across all project stages, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, time, and cost requirements.
Key responsibilities include
- Delivering projects in accordance with safety, quality, time, and cost requirements. Utilizing experience in wind industry and drive technologies to ensure high-quality technical solutions across all sub-modules
- Translating product requirements into actionable tasks for Powertrain sub-modules. Guiding and coaching the project team while aligning technical solutions, design, and development timelines with relevant subject-matter experts
- Identifying technical risks and implementing mitigation strategies in collaboration with the Technical Leads and Project Manager
- Evaluating scope change requests, assessing technical risks, competence needs, and their impact on project and product targets. Preparing and conducting peer and technical reviews, approving content delivered in work packages
- Ensuring adherence to processes across the entire value chain and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
- Solving complex conceptual issues based on existing precedents or procedures
- Managing senior stakeholders and acting as a capability manager with a clear focus on delivering effective solutions
Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in product development, notably in drive technology
- Ability to manage complex issues in global project organizations
- Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required
- Familiarity with Six Sigma and system engineering tools, such as requirement management and DFMEA
- Experience working in global matrix organizations or within the wind industry is beneficial
- Good understanding of product cost structures, planning, and value chain processes

The primary work location for this position is Aarhus, Denmark.
