Vestas Global Procurement is overall responsible for all supply chain management activities within Vestas Wind System A/S, including, innovating cross-functional Commodity Teams, negotiations, cost out initiatives, category strategy development and implementation, quality and delivery performance, supplier relationship management and supplier account management. The Senior Purchaser is needed for our Offshore Vessel Commodity.


You will support key initiatives in Global Procurement, focused on value addition, supplier relationship management, innovation, and supply chain optimization. By working closely with the Commodity Team and key stakeholders you will:

  • Participate & coordinate in strategy development in alignment with the regions
  • Grow & develop your supply base to support Vestas' overall strategy
  • Develop Strategies for the Commodity, ensuring strategic focus, best in class supplier performance, technology innovation screening, ensuring competitive advantages, long term strategic planning and target setting
  • Optimize the current supply base including the cost base
  • Become an established part of the Commodity Team, working across different business units within Vestas and providing input to and implementation of the commodity strategies
  • Motivate continuous improvement programs both internally and at the suppliers with a special focus on cost-saving initiatives, value chain optimization, supplier optimization, solid quality, zero injury safety record and best in class commercial terms
  • Ensure adherence to KPIs set by Global Procurement regarding safety, quality, cost, delivery, innovation and sustainability
  • Together with the Commodity Team, supplier selection, qualification, negotiation and contracting



  • The right candidate should have 2 to 3 years of relevant experience
  • The right candidate has negotiation experience combined with a degree in either Supply Chain Management, Finance/Accounting, Sales/Marketing or Engineering
  • Effective communication skills including fluent English skills (both orally and in writing)
  • Advanced skills within PPT, Excel & Word are needed



  • The preferred candidate has previous experience in sourcing of Offshore Installation Vessels, W2W Vessels and CTV's
  • The effective candidate has a mindset and motivation which is second to none. You are a passionate leader whose enthusiasm shines through and affects others
  • You are open-minded and have a natural curiosity
  • Furthermore, we are looking for a profile that has an open approach to encourage stakeholder inputs and a structured and fact-based approach to secure ideas are prioritised and implemented
  • Team player and motivated to secure the effective implementation of the initiatives you supervise
  • Holistic and positive mindset: you are able to see the big picture from Vestas offerings towards customers and the ability to connect these to supplier offerings and how they can positively impact Vestas sales and cost out programs
  • Strong, analytical, structured and fact-based
  • Strong leader and influencer with the ability to bring people together across functions. You are not afraid to question the status quo!

Additional Information
Your primary work location will be Aarhus, Denmark. Travel to suppliers and key stakeholders is expected to be approximately 30 days per year.
