Load and Control is part of Vestas Power Solutions being responsible for delivering design loads, advanced control solutions, as well as commercial deliverables like power curves and noise levels to larger parts of the organization. The responsibility spans from early engagement with product management on providing feasibility studies related to future products over controller tuning and load calculation iterations during product development to controller performance and load validation on product prototypes. 
 The Loads and Control Technologies department provides the rest of the Loads and Controls Function with innovative technologies within the areas of design basis improvements using probabilistic design methodologies, wind turbine modelling capabilities as well as wind turbine and plant level control solutions. This with the overarching aim of lowering the levelized cost of energy produced by our products. Daily work in the department is focused on delivering solutions in ongoing technology projects that have a clear business impact on current and future product developments, as well as technology feasibility studies supporting the continuous development of our technology roadmap. 
To handle our work efficiently, the department is divided into development value streams each supporting specific internal customers representing the different phases of the overall operational value stream of Vestas. The value streams have full accountability for the entire life cycle of developed technologies, this ranging from early feasibility studies and technology maturation through the technology development process to supporting internal customers in ensuring that technologies are efficiently integrated into Vestas's products. For the Turbine Development value stream, we are currently looking for a Product Owner to effectively set priorities and define value creation according to value stream KPIs, strategic focus areas and technical obstacles related to the product roadmap. Technologies developed by the value stream are within the area of wind turbine control and aimed at improving the effectiveness of wind turbine products including cost-outs, AEP improvements, grid compatibility and noise reductions. Additionally, the delivered solutions need to support the modularization journey that Vestas is currently on by being easy customizable to support a wide range of customer use cases and product configurations. 
The Turbine Design value stream has an integral part in propelling the competitiveness of Vestas products and as a Product Owner you get the interesting opportunity to take the responsibility for ensuring clear priorities and value creation within the business area of the value stream. To support you, you will have a team of highly proficient and experienced control engineers and to succeed in the role it is essential that you empower the team and thus ensure that we leverage on the collective knowledge and experience across team members.

Main area of responsibility

  • Propel creation of business value according to value stream KPIs - this based on thorough understanding of customer needs and challenges 
  • Ensure that value stream activities are prioritized according to business needs and in accordance with LaC strategic focus areas 
  • Balance the value stream activities between early feasibility studies, technology maturation and ensuring that technologies are efficiently integrated into Vestas's products to ensure short-term as well as future value creation 
  • Build established relationships with internal customers to understand business goals and needs 
  • Ensure that customer requirements are adequately addressed in technology development projects and that solutions are delivered in accordance with these 
  • Understand roadmap dependencies between products and technologies and prioritize accordingly 
  • Support program increment planning by ensuring clear priorities prior to program increment planning events 
  • Work with the value stream teams to identify and address technical obstacles you may face


  • A Ph.D. or M.Sc. within control engineering or related field 
  • 7+ years of control engineering work experience 
  • Extensive experience in propelling control technology development projects from ideation to product integration 
  • Experience from a technical leadership role and a proven history in crating results through others
  • Extensive wind industry experience, including experience or knowledge of aero elastic tools such as Flex5, Bladed or HAWC2 
  • Extensive coding experience - especially within the MATLAB/Simulink environment


It is advantageous if you have

  • Experience in propelling projects meeting deadlines, and maybe you are certified in project management e.g. Prince2 Agile certification 
  • Experience in version control systems, e.g. GIT and agile planning tools, e.g. Jira
