As a Patent  Paralegal in Vestas’ Patents team, you will play a key role in supporting the protection and management of the company’s intellectual property portfolio. You will work closely with a team of 10 European Patent Attorneys together with two other QIPA qualified colleagues.

You will contribute to ensuring efficient and accurate handling of patent-related processes and administrative workflows that support patent administration and strategic IP decision-making. The role offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative, international environment within the fast-growing renewable energy industry, supporting Vestas in maintaining its market-leading position and helping realizing the value of its technology investments.

 

Responsibilities

Your tasks and responsibilities will focus on patent administration, coordination, and operational excellence, with a high degree of professionalism and self-management, including

  • Monitor and process docketing-related emails and ensure accurate recording and updating deadlines in the case management system
  • Manage patent-related formalities, including: first filings, national phase entry, EP validations, assignments, national patent prosecution formalities, IDS submissions, opposition matters, correspondence with internal inventors and external partners, obtaining foreign filing licenses
  • Handle direct correspondence with patent authorities (PVS, EPO, and WIPO) and coordinate activities with foreign patent agencies regarding filings and patent prosecution
  • Support patent attorneys in portfolio management and administrative aspects of patent prosecution with a high level of responsibility and ownership
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement, maintenance, and implementation of departmental procedures, templates, and guidelines
  • Support the upkeep and optimization of the case management system (IPMS) and prepare and coordinate internal IP-related reports and data extracts
  • Ensure efficient and compliant handling of patent administration processes across jurisdictions

 

Qualifications

To deliver in this role, we would expect that you bring the following experience

  • At least 3-5 years experience as a patent paralegal
  • Qualified IP Administrator (QIPA) or equivalent certifications or -work experience
  • Experience in filing DK, EP and PCT patent applications.
  • Experience in working with foreign patent agencies related to foreign filings and patent prosecution.
  • Solid understanding of patent formalities and administrative procedures
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken

Additional information

This position is based in Aarhus or Copenhagen, Denmark. This requires the ability to work on-site and may entail limited travelling, approximately no more than 5-10 days per year.
