Can you power the solution by securing the right patents for Vestas? We are looking for a Patent Attorney to join the leading corporate patent department in Denmark and secure Vestas’ position in the sustainable transformation.

For Vestas, innovation and technology development are central in improving the scaling of the renewable industry and patents are essential to ensure our innovative and technological edge. Vestas Patents Department is part of Vestas Group Legal function and comprises a team of highly qualified attorneys providing patents-related support, notably to R&D functions, and elsewhere across the Vestas business. The department also includes paralegals and patent information support. Vestas was Denmark’s most active patent applicant at the European Patent Office in 2021.

Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include the full spectrum of patent attorney tasks. More specifically your responsibilities will cover:

  • Core tasks of invention harvesting
  • Patent drafting
  • Filing and patent prosecution
  • Conducting freedom to operate investigations
  • Handling of oppositions and other contentious matters, and licensing activities
  • Providing support on a host of other IPR-related matters

 

Qualifications

  • A degree in engineering, physics or similar
  • Qualified as a patent attorney before the patent office of a major jurisdiction such as European Patent Office, Germany, UK or US
  • You have some experience of handling cases in mechanical engineering technologies, electrical power systems, software/data or similar experience from other relevant areas
  • Fluent in verbal and written English

  • Ability to distil complex situations and communicate solutions clearly to the business is essential
  • Proven understanding of the commercial significance of patent activities
  • A compliant and flexible mindset
  • Methodical and solution-oriented approach

Additional information

Your primary work location will be Vestas’ headquarter in Aarhus, Denmark.
You can expect up to 10 days of travel per year.
