Manager -Tower Technology

Can you assume full responsibility and leadership within our Tower Technology sub-module?  Can you run alternative tower vetting concepts, develop, and carry out new tower concepts, execute next generation towers technology?   And do you have solid communications skills and can create good collaboration with stakeholders worldwide?  An internal promotion has led to this great opportunity to join Vestas, the global leader in sustainable energy solutions.

Tower Technology is a sub-module to the Tower Module.  The Tower Module is maintaining and developing the complete Vestas tower program. The tasks range from structural development & engineering, tools development, project management over highly specialized FEM calculations, requirements specifications, DFMEA, test planning and execution to risk assessments and compilation of certification documentation. As Sub-module owner, you will have a team of 21 highly skilled engineers globally.


your primary responsibility will be to drive the area; lead and develop the team, including:


  • Develop technology solutions for all Vestas products in onshore and offshore.
  • Develop & implement technology driven new design methodologies and processes across tower value chain.
  • Accountable for the sustainability goals for of tower module and develop solutions across the value chain to achieve it.
  • develop strategic direction and "line of sight" of the area
  • People management and leadership. Creation of goals and alignment of development areas for your employees
  • Manage resources and prioritisations in alignment with project management and stakeholders
  • Ensure execution of the Vestas project model within the area. 
  • Full responsibility for KPIs and sub-module performance.


- Bachelor, Master or other relevant engineering background in Structural or Mechanical Engineering, with 5 to 10 years of relevant management experience incl insight in project management 
- Experience with running mid or large range international engineering teams
- Experience within design of tools for heavy equipment 
- Experience with design of towers for wind turbines, or other mast/chimney structures 
- Prefer experience within structural assessments using FEA, structural analysis, fatigue analysis


- Solid people leadership and managerial skills
- Ability to scope and specify work to internal and external employees
- High degree of personal planning incl. the ability to assist on large projects 
- Full commercial awareness and understanding of the business implications of the sub-module decisions
- Solid English communication skills, that enables you to convey issues to management and internal/external stakeholders

Additional information

Your work location will be in Aarhus, Denmark.  You can expect up to 20 days of travel per year.  The application deadline is August 26, 2022.
