Through innovation, development and continuous improvement Vestas R&D develops the products and technologies that reduce the cost of energy and bring the highest possible value to our customers and to Vestas. To put it short: Vestas R&D develops the sustainable power systems of the future.
Within Vestas R&D, the department Converter & Electrical Module is responsible for technology and product development of the wind turbine's frequency converters, their control, and high-voltage transformers, switchgear and cables. The department is composed of several Sub Modules, of which one specifically covers Converter Control Algorithms.
The Converter & Electrical Module partners with vendors and various internal departments, such as turbine integration, procurement, assembly, and service, to create high-quality solutions from our teams based in Denmark, Portugal, and India. The Converter Control Algorithms Sub Module develops and maintains all converter control and protections functionalities for all Vestas converters. We deliver top-tier converter solutions that meet system and grid specifications.
As Sub Module Owner of Converter Control Algorithms, you will have direct reports in Denmark and Portugal, and you will report to the Module Owner of Converter & Electrical Module and be part of the Module management team.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the Sub Module and the performance of the team, i.e. delivering high quality, safe, sustainable and durable design solutions on time at the agreed cost taking the entire value chain and life cycle into account. You will as direct line manager for the team members develop employees through coaching and target setting. Encouraging collaboration within and external to Vestas R&D is vital, and you should maintain ongoing interactions with stakeholders to discover optimal solutions.

  • Ensure timely delivery of high-quality sub-module solutions and documentation
  • Oversee resource planning, task delegation, and budget control
  • Enhance employee performance by conducting regular individual meetings, establishing clear targets, and planning for development
  • Enhance talent management and career development efforts through collaboration and strategic initiatives
  • Coach team members in daily task execution and professional growth
  • Manage and align with stakeholders across the value chain
  • Identify and implement process and solution optimizations, including recruitment and consultant scaling


Qualifications

  • Effective leadership experience in managing teams across multiple cultural environments
  • Relevant Master's (Bachelor's) degree in the Power Electronics Control domain
  • Experience from working as an engineer within the domain
  • Experienced in management of control engineering teams
  • Experience in managing in a matrix organisation and across cultures
