Tower Engineering in Vestas Power Solutions is maintaining and developing the complete Vestas tower program. The tasks range from structural engineering over highly specialized FEM calculations, requirements specifications, DFMEA, test planning and execution to risk assessments and compilation of certification documentation.

Focus is on securing sound, cost-optimized and production friendly solutions and at the same time fulfilling the overall requirements to safety and functionality for the products. Additionally, process efficiency and set direction for time reduction is of key importance in order to fulfill Vestas's overall vision of delivering products, which are configured to customer needs in a timely manner.

The team is located at 3 sites at present, Aarhus, Denmark, Chennai, India and Porto, Portugal. The team consists of 20+ highly skilled design engineers with background in mechanical/Civil engineering. 



As a Lead Structural Engineer in Tower Structures your primary responsibility will be:

  • Support the Functional Leads on roadmap definition and execution, design guidelines continuous updates, and certification alignments (DNV, TUV, BV, Class NK)
  • Ensure delivering high quality tower training program with upto date information
  • Support a young team of tower designers, ensuring theirs ramp up and quality on their output
  • Ensure quality through detailed review of tower and anchor cage structural calculations, for the complete portfolio of standard towers
  • Ensure business scope and tower quality by identifying and mitigating technical design risks
  • Support project scope definition and resources planning in collaboration with the technical leads and project managers
  • Align with stakeholder on project issues, feedback and design solutions to interfacing systems to optimize final product design



  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Structural, Mechanical or Civil Engineering
  • 5+ years of energy industry and design experience of large steel structures including certification with entities such as DNV / TUV 
  • Knowledge on following areas: fatigue analysis, buckling Analysis, weld assessment, bolted joints design and fracture Mechanics
  • Experience in structural assessments using FEA and concrete design is considered beneficial for the position
  • Experience within the design of wind turbine towers is beneficial
  • Knowledge of complex loaded structures and structural standards [Eurocodes, IEC, DiBt, DIN]

Additional information

Your work location will be at Vestas office based at Aarhus, Denmark.

Up to 30 travel days per year shall be expected for a year.
