Loads & Control (LaC) organization, being part of Product Application and Control, is responsible for designing and optimizing Vestas' products for optimal performance, loads and control strategies to design product responses to market roadmap requirements, translating product roadmap into module requirements with full value chain integration.

As Lead Control Engineer, you will take responsibility for growing and developing optimal Loads & Control solutions for product lifecycle application and utilize the full potential of onshore turbines or improve commercial edge as per market needs. You will be part of a global team distributed across Denmark, Portugal and India.

 

Responsibilities

  • Feasibility studies of new wind turbine products aiming at optimizing power, loads, and noise performance through innovative use of sensors, controllers and actuators
  • Guide the technical aspects of control development for a specific product from feasibility state to fully verified product development and tuning of control algorithms
  • Improvement of processes ensuring a lean and efficient execution
  • Implementation of control algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink
  • Verification on all levels, including software tests and field testing
  • Lead the development of the control solution for the new wind turbine product and assist in the professional growth of emerging engineers'
  • Risk management activities such as risk assessments and failure mode and effect analysis

 

Qualifications

  • A Master's or PhD. in Control Engineering or a similar related field
  • 4 to 7 years of professional experience in wind energy engineering or related field
  • Experience in control development for wind turbine applications. Classical control experience is desirable
  • Knowledge of dynamic mechanical or hydraulic systems
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink
  • Ideally, have knowledge of aerodynamics and aero-elasticity, along with experience using MATLAB embedded code and software development tools such as Git and SVN
  • System-level understanding is beneficial. Candidate should have an interest in understanding the full WTG
