VPMS defines and deploys the common Vestas Production Management System across the global manufacturing footprint, establishing the standards and management routines required for sustainable operational excellence.

Vestas is seeking a senior leader to own and evolve the Vestas Production System (VPS) the operating system that drives performance, culture, and competitiveness across our global manufacturing network.

As Director of VPS, you will be accountable for the design, governance, deployment, and continuous improvement of the production system across Nacelles, Blades, Logistics, Warehousing, and new factory ramp‑ups. Your role is to make VPMS the standard approach across every manufacturing site, turning strategy into action and building a culture of operational Excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the development, governance, and ongoing refinement of the Vestas Production System (VPS), keeping it aligned with business goals and manufacturing strategy.
  • Enable the global deployment and sustainable implementation of VPS standards, tools, and ways of working across manufacturing sites.
  • Own and enhance the VPS framework, establishing clear standards for shop floor management, standard work, flow optimisation, problem solving, and loss management.
  • Conduct VPS maturity assessments, audits, and gap closure activities to support operational Excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Guide strategy deployment activities to align breakthrough objectives with operational priorities across all manufacturing locations.
  • Coach and develop plant leadership teams, building capability and embedding a culture of continuous improvement and operational discipline.
  • Identify, benchmark, and replicate manufacturing best practices globally to improve performance, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Oversee and develop the global VPS team, ensuring VPS initiatives deliver measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of leadership experience within global manufacturing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to deploy and sustain high-performing production systems across multiple plants.
  • Deep knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Operational Excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience leading large scale transformation and cultural change initiatives.
  • International leadership experience within complex, matrixed organisations.

Competencies 

  • Experienced in building strong, trusted relationships throughout the organisation, from the shop floor to senior leaders.
  • Strategic and commercially minded leader with a practical approach to execution and operational improvement.
  • Strong Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement experience, with the ability to produce sustainable results.
  • Experienced change agent with experience leading transformation initiatives in complex manufacturing environments.
  • Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and problem solving, with the ability to grow capable teams and leaders.
  • Able to translate standards, data, and improvement methodologies into simple, effective daily operational practices that improve performance.
