The Converter Control Application is crucial for maintaining Vestas' leadership in sustainable energy. Our team develops and implements all Vestas turbine families' converter applications and control functionalities. Within the grid team, we ensure compliance with various grid codes, develop grid-type test certification strategies, manage power delivery to the grid, and engineer features for grid events such as voltage or frequency fluctuations. We oversee the entire value chain, from requirements and design for new turbines to validation, field support, and sales and service assistance. Our department is known for its highly skilled employees who consistently balance creativity with quality. Leveraging our core knowledge, we deliver high-quality converter solutions that meet system, product, and grid requirements.
Responsibilities
- As a member of the Converter Control development team, you will be responsible for defining converter requirements, guiding the design of converter controls, and overseeing the development, testing, and verification of control software
- Mentor and support less experienced team members, helping to shape decision-making and overseeing technical projects and work packages
- Set the direction for the Grid Compliance technical roadmap, ensuring it aligns with broader business goals
- Provide technical sign-offs on Grid Compliance scope deliveries, ensuring quality assurance standards are met
- Scope and estimate work packages, build business cases and ensure development projects align with business priorities
- Refining grid requirements and converting them into optimized converter control strategies to meet grid compliance needs
Qualifications
- Master's or PhD in Engineering, specializing in electronics, control, or power electronics, coupled with 6+ years of experience in the power converter industry with a focus on converter line-side control
- Deep understanding of time, DQ0, sequence, and phasor domains for three-phase power systems
- Ability to interpret and apply grid codes to converter control
- Proficient in translating control functions to and from C-code
- Experienced in simulation environments such as MATLAB, Simulink, PLECS, or PSCAD
- Systematic approach and capable of evaluating scientific research and translating insights into practical applications
- Knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies is beneficial

Additional information
The primary work location will be Aarhus, Denmark or Porto, Portugal.
