Vestas Technology & Operations (VTO) is the integrated CTO and COO organization within Vestas, encompassing the full industrial value chain — from Research & Development, Procurement and Manufacturing to Supply Chain and Quality. VTO’s mission is to transform the way Vestas engineers, sources, contracts, manufactures and delivers its products to consistently meet the highest standards for quality, cost efficiency and time-to-market.
The Generator Submodule is comprised of highly skilled professionals located across our main hubs in Portugal, Germany, and Denmark. The team is responsible for the generator system, which plays a critical role in converting mechanical energy from the wind turbine rotor and drivetrain into electrical power.

The Generator Submodule builds on a strong legacy of both in-house development and externally sourced generator solutions. Our portfolio spans a broad range of technologies, including:

Within this dynamic and innovative environment, we are currently seeking a Generator Specialist. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to and help shape the functional leadership team within generator verification, playing a key role in advancing our technical excellence.
Responsibilities
As a Generator Specialist, you will take ownership of system integration and functional leadership within generator verification across multiple projects. You will ensure alignment with Vestas’ project framework and Stage-Gate models, while driving consistency, quality, and efficiency across initiatives.
This role carries a strong cross-project and cross-functional mandate, with a focus on technical governance, best practices, and continuous improvement.
- Define and continuously improve verification strategies for new generator designs and technologies
- Lead end-to-end generator verification activities, including planning, testing, evaluation, reporting, and risk mitigation
- Collaborate with design engineers in FMEA processes to develop robust verification methodologies
- Establish and ensure consistent use of guidelines, standards, and best practices across projects
- Perform advanced data analysis and root-cause investigations, translating insights into corrective actions
- Act as the domain sign-off authority for generator verification during peer reviews and key milestones
- Provide technical leadership by coaching engineers, supporting projects, and driving continuous improvement across the organization
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electromechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in product development and verification within drivetrain or generator technologies.
- Proven track record of working within complex, global project organizations
- Specialization in at least one of the following generator domains:
- Electromagnetics
- Thermal behavior
- Noise & Vibration (NVH) in electrical machines
- Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication abilitie
Competencies
- Strong technical foundation with a system-level understanding of generator design and verification
- Ability to clearly document, communicate, and justify technical work, ideas, and decisions.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm, resilience, and a result-oriented mindset, combined with a high level of accountability
- Capable of planning and structuring own work, while effectively driving progress through others
- Strong understanding of the importance of business processes, including engineering change management and quality governance
