Power Solutions > Aerodynamic & Mechanical > Generator Sub Module

The Vestas Power Solution business unit brings the technology development of our wind turbine products. We are responsible for its development, verification and industrialisation. It is here that we lay the technological foundation for staying ahead as the global leader within sustainable energy.

The Powertrain Module area in Aerodynamic & Mechanical consists out of highly skilled employees situated in locations around the world. The department is accountable for the Powertrain System converting the mechanical energy from the wind into electrical energy. The Powertrain System consists of main components such as the main gearbox, generator, main shaft bearings, lubrication system and auxiliary components such as brake, coupling and suspension/damper system.

 

In the Generator Sub Module we build our designs on a long tradition of both in-house and externally supplied generator products of both induction & synchronous types.

We work hard to embed innovation and bring novel technologies into predictable product performance values. Our own generator manufacturing capabilities are here the golden nugget.

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the technical progress of our product development projects
  • Collaboration with the project manager and technical experts moving the daily work and coordination with adjacent components
  • Mechanical Design with support of a team of experienced CAD Designers
  • Plan work package execution together with development team
  • Coordinate the technical solution within quality, time and cost targets of the project
  • Prioritize the technical team's tasks based on the calculated impact to project targets
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks within the project scope and secure technical administration to get the needed progress in the projects
  • Supervise and align project issues with stakeholders

 

Qualifications

  • M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years of experience, desirable with mechanical motor or electro-magnetic engineering
  • Product development experience
  • Specific work experience within the wind industry is beneficial but not required
  • Routine handling of a 3D CAD system, desirable CREO Parametric
  • Effective verbal and written communication with English as the primary working language

  • Ability and interest in stakeholder management including coordination, planning, and reporting

  • Experienced in following up on projects with multiple stakeholders

Additional information

The primary location is Aarhus (Denmark), but we could also consider other European Vestas locations for the right candidate.
