You will be part of the vital area of Yaw, Lubrication, and Hydraulics and Power Conversion within the Control HW organisation in Vestas' R&D. We develop the next generation of control hardware solutions by utilizing the techniques of system engineering, modularization, and simulation to make the new wind turbines even smarter and thereby shaping the future of modern energy.

Your colleagues are Electrical Engineers, CAD Designers and technical leads based in Denmark and Chennai. The area is responsible for specifying and integrating the auxiliary control panels connected Yaw, Lubrication and Hydraulics in the Nacelle. Together with our suppliers, you will create solutions that are modular and can be reused across all our turbine platforms. The wind business is looking into an enormous increase and therefore one of our focuses is to reuse, simulate and automate more to deliver more with less. The area is involved in various activities, including innovation projects, feasibility studies and prototype testing, while focusing on product development as our main focus.

We take ownership of our critical components in Power Conversion. Align with sourcing, quality (PPAP) and service to get the best suitable service plans for both onshore and offshore products.

 

Responsibilities

As Lead, Power Conversion (Lead Engineer), your main responsibility is to handle and provide solutions for the VPS system in Control hardware in the Nacelle.

Your main responsibilities are:

  • Provide input to architecture sprints together with the Functional Lead of Power Conversion.

  • Participate in module-level architecture design evaluations towards improved modularity across platforms

  • Implement new design in accordance with Vestas' process and Engineering Change Management system

  • Design and quality responsibilities include creating high-level technical purchase descriptions and enabling external suppliers to deliver our products in the expected quality and within the agreed timelines

  • Create and maintain TPS on the component level

  • Oversee EMC compliance, IEC / UL rules and guidance

  • Select component designs to fit selected architectures on the various platforms which can meet relevant functional requirements

  • Support sourcing activities

 

Qualifications

  • M.Sc.E.E or other relevant education combined with 3-5 years of professional senior experience with Frequency converters electrical design and detailed design

  • Knowledge of Power Conversion especially frequency converters (VFDs)

  • Knowledge of Low-Voltage components and system testing

  • Knowledge of International standards such as IEC, UL, etc., preferably IEC 60204-1 Machine directive

  • Solid communication skills in English (oral and written)

  • You have insight into the Nacelle and control systems

  • Working experience from a global company within power conversion, especially frequency converters, would be a positive asset
