Converter Control Application is a key area in securing Vestas' leading position within sustainable energy in the future. We develop and implement all converter application and control functionalities for all Vestas turbine families. In the grid team, we secure compliance with various grid codes, develop grid-type test certification strategies, design how the power to the grid is managed, and engineer grid event features such as voltage or frequency events. We cover the full value chain, from requirements and design for new turbines to validation, field support, and support for sales and service.

Responsibilities

  • You will be part of the Converter Control development team, which lays out converter requirements, owns converter control design and performs control software development, testing and verification

  • You will be part of the Converter Control Grid team, as a Lead Engineer, implementing project work and field support

  • You will mentor, guide, and support the decision-making of less experienced colleagues and lead/drive work packages/projects

  • You will oversee parts of the gameplan for the functional area

  • You will scope and estimate work packages and justify the business case for the development

  • You will define and mature grid requirements 

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in the Power Converter Industry with relevant knowledge in converter grid-side control

  • Master or PhD in Engineering within electronic, control or power electronic.

  • Master time, DQ0, Sequence, and Phaser domains for 3-phase power systems

  • Ability to decipher grid codes and relate to the above domains

  • Realize functions to c-code and vice versa

  • Skilled in simulation environments such as Matlab, Simulink, PLECS, or PSCAD

  • Have a systematic and theoretical approach being able to evaluate scientific articles and take them to the test (knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies is ideal)
