As a CIM Technical Specialist, you'll investigate field failures, lead root-cause analyses, and develop improvement solutions in collaboration with various stakeholders across the value chain.

Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) is where new product ideas are developed, matured, improved, and tested. You'll find Continuous Improvement Management (CIM) and serious Incidents within VPS. We have more than 100 employees, primarily engineers and project managers. We are in Denmark, Great Britain, India, and Portugal. We resolve CIM cases in a prioritized and structured manner by developing upgrade solutions that improve the performance and safety of installed wind turbines. We supply technical communication to Vestas to communicate with our customers.

 

The CIM Tower & Powertrain team is very versatile, as we cover all the components related to the Tower and the Powertrain in the turbine, from main components like gearboxes, generators, and structural tower parts down to bolt connections and small brackets. Apart from the root cause phase, activities will require the involvement of the entire value chain, such as finance, legal, suppliers, service, and installation.

 

Responsibilities

Take responsibility for the technical solution across the entire value chain by:

  • Investigate failures reported from turbines in the field by collaborating with site technicians and design engineers
  • Describe the failure mode, problem statement, facts, and statistics concerning CIM cases.
  • Oversee root-cause analysis and support regional engineering
  • Ensure alignment with affected stakeholders like Module Owners, SQD, Service, Construction, Legal, Finance, etc.
  • Dialogue with the supplier or manufacturer of the affected component
  • Identify short and long-term actions to reduce the effect of failure
  • Guide development of improvement solution, including testing and verification Testing specifications for solution
  • Ensure the CIM case is documented for internal and external stakeholders, including . customers

 

Qualifications

  • Diploma-/or master's degree in mechanical engineering or Marine- and Technical Engineering, and 5+ years working with components within Wind Turbines, Aerospace, Automotive, Heavy Industries or similar
  • Experience in mechanical failure analysis & solution development
  • Knowledge and experience in creating failure forecasts based on statistical methods
  • Able to take technical responsibility for high-impact issues and overall component health
  • Strong DMAIC or similar problem-solving skills
  • Experience with the design & development of processes and special tools

  • You are an independent and proactive self-starter, persistent in reaching your goals, and have leadership skills that you would like to use in your everyday work
