The Vestas Northern Central Europe business unit is responsible for the Sales, Project, Installation and Service of wind farms throughout the NCE region.
The NCE Offshore Service Project Support is one of four teams in the Special Projects Department, and we focus on supporting the other teams of the department. The Project Support department is responsible for ensuring a high-quality customer experience when completing projects for our customers, aiding service sites in conducting special campaigns and internal project support within the department. We are now seeking an Appointed person (AP) who will be responsible for overseeing all lifting operations within Special Projects North and Central Europe.

 

Responsibilities 
The role is nominated as an AP Lifting Operations to comply with the local requirements concerning complex lifting duties on site(s) and acts as a subject matter expert for the site team. The AP administrates the Safe System of Work ("SSoW") regarding Lifting Operations and coordinates the work tasks for the various parties involved. In addition, the AP responsibilities include:

  • Preparing project specific lifting plans and rigging drawings with the ultimate control and responsibility for the lifting operations
  • Participating in all meetings, both internally and externally, associated with the lifting activities and represents Vestas in client or sub-contractor meetings
  • Assisting in assessments of competencies of all relevant staff / technicians and provides inductions to the appropriate persons
  • Clarifying legislation, regulations, and codes of practice requirements that relate to basic, intermediate and complex lifting procedures
  • Implementing a SSoW and periodically monitor and amend as required to ensure, as far as reasonably practical, a SSoW is provided and implemented
  • Liaising with project team, client, engineering department, MWS and other relevant stakeholders and proactively resolves internal and external cross-functional issues to ensure the project is not affected
  • Ensuring that lifting operations are executed according to Vestas QHSE standards

 

Qualifications 
We anticipate that applicants will come with sufficient experience from offshore lifting operations as well as relevant experience of planning lifting operations. Moreover, we see that you bring the following qualifications:

  • CPCS Blue card (Appointed Person)
  • Level 5 NVQ for Lifting National Vocational Qualification (Diploma of Higher education), or equivalent gained work experience
  • Qualified or certified with practical/theoretical knowledge to the Industrial standards and requirements under local legislation and regulations related to all types of lifting duties
  • Knowledge in implementing 'Safe Systems of Work' (SSoW), producing detailed rigging calculations and executing detailed risk assessment
  • Good understanding of DNVGL-ST-N001, knowledge of BS7121 Safe use of Cranes and IOSH Leading Safely or NEBOSH certified
  • Knowledge of maintenance, inspection, thorough examination and testing requirements of lifting equipment and accessories and understanding of relevant information relating to different types of lifting accessories i.e. markings, certificates, and thorough examination reports
  • Good IT (MS Office and AX) skills and AutoCAD and 2D (3D) drawing skills

Additional information 
The language required for this role is fluent level of English. The primary work location is Aarhus, Denmark but could also be in the UK (remote or from the nearest Vestas office). The role requires approximately 30 days of travel per year.
